"Is it a Zentangle?" #123

i am the diva, CZT     Weekly Challenge #123-Guest Post-Marie Vennekens CZT

The title of this challenge is "Is it a Zentangle?"
We are to create a tile without traditional tangles or their variations, then speak about how it went for us.
I created 2 tiles but I'm not sure whether I got this challenge correct or not. My heart tile has some tangles, my second tile I created a string like a G then filled the spaces, but they still seem to be tangles. Once I have learned tangles I find it difficult not to bring them forward to use in on my tiles and zendala templates. When I get ready to do some tangling the patterns seem to float through my mind and with the help of some of Suzanne McNeil's books on Zentangle I'm still learning more. Zentangle.com and TanglePatterns.com are also sources for patterns to use.
After I had done my tiles I did check out some other entrants and I always check out what Lendenzer has created. Now she looked at some images from Google and created a new pattern. I'm starting to see how I can look for shapes in many places and don't have to use patterns already created. One day I might even create a new pattern myself.

Zendala Dare #61

The Bright Owl      Zendala Dare #61

Erin is back, feeling better this week and boy has she given us a challenging template, or it was for me.
I've done the 3 1/2" square and the 4 1/2" round tiles. I find myself usually using the more linear tangles for some reason, but all these points and small areas seem to kind of stump me. After finishing both of these and taking a step back for a look, I find I'm quite satisfied with my creations.
Click over and check out what the other entrants have for created. I never tire of seeing what different creations can be made from the same template. So Cool!!

Daisy Yellow     Index Card A Day--Week 2 Prompts

I had a block of time last Saturday so I created 7 index cards using the prompts from Week 2 of Tammy's challenge at Daisy Yellow. Even though it says Index Card A Day my days seem to get away from me before I have turned around twice after I get up in the mornings. So, my creative journey with this challenge will probably be in blocks of time like everything else in my life. General living has to come first and I have people who require a good portion of my time each day.
Enough said on that matter--
Card 1-yellow marker, sponged edges, calligraphy pen (I had forgotten how much I liked using
these until I did the calligraphy prompt)
Card 2-Lg. Background stamped, colored with distress markers
Card 3- Free hand cut hearts stitched to card, sponged edges, calligraphy pen
Card 4-Sponged background, stamped ferris wheel, cut outs from a sheet of12 X 12 pattern
             paper
Card 5-Scraps torn from junk mail recycling box glued to card, sponged edges
Card 6-Stamped 2 Tim Holtz stamps with Sepia and Black ink
Card 7-Stamped a Paula Best stamp, colored with distress markers, stamped Tim Holtz
sentiment stamp with new Smoky Slate Stampin' Up ink

I'm enjoying creating these cards just for some fun out of the box arting using stuff from my stash that I may not have used in awhile.

Adventures in Monotangle #14-Hollibaugh

Mindful Creations     Adventures in Monotangle #14-Hollibaugh

This is my entry for Roy's challenge at Mindful Creations this week. The tangle he has chosen to challenge us with this week is Hollibaugh. I've chosen to fill in the spaces between my Hollibaugh lines with 2 shades of blue and 2 shades of green Copic markers for a clean fresh summery look.
The challenge just went up on Thursday so you still have time to enter. With the kiddos home for the summer and lots of extra activities going on, if you find yourself on the way to the pool or the beach take your tangling supplies along and while the kids are whooping it up keep one eye on them and one eye on a tile and create something with the Hollibaugh tangle and when you get home click over to Roy's place and enter in for a Zen moment.
