Thanks A Bunch

I'm not really tired of winter, it gently snowed here most of today, fortunately didn't stick on the roads, and of course, it's going to be 54 tomorrow. You'll have to amend that to yesterday and today, as I look at the clock and see it's 1:31a.m. I guess I'm falling back into my crafting days we were making Halloween and Christmas in the summer and Valentine, Spring, and Summer in winter. I know, I know it's a marketing thing. It's nice not to be selling my cards and projects just making them for the pleasure of competing and maybe getting published, but you have to be ahead in publishing also, so I guess my crafting days may have helped me after all.
I'm doing a quick edit to this post, couldn't get it to go at the top, so---Julie Ranae left a nice comment on this card and said I ought to enter it in a challenge that's new to me. I'm glad she found my blog and let me know about the Play Date Cafe Challenge blog, it looks like a fun bunch of gals and I look forward to participating in their challenges in 2010, I'll be adding them to my side bar challenges. Thanks Julie, I'm sneaking this one in.

Coffee Shared

This is for 2 Challenges:
at Sketch and Stash Challenge Blog they like for you to tell what you have used New or what's from you stash--on this card, I've had these stamps for awhile, but this is the first time I have used them, the stripey paper on the left is from my scrap box and I can't remember where it is from and the bargello paper on the right coffee cup is from a new pack of paper DCWV Safari Chic. Even though I can't seem to write in a straight line, I had to take a photo of the inside because people who love coffee think it is Life's Best Experience.
Supplies: Ivory Card Blank 5 1/2" X 4" Halcraft, Papers: from my scrap box,DCWV-Safari Chic Paper pack, Stamp: TPC Studio-Coffee Cafe, Ink: CTMH-Z2111 Chocolate, CTMH markers-chocolate, cocoa, Fiskars-threading water border punch, Textured Trios Michael's-ribbon, 2 small brads, pop dots.

Dream Tag

Today is a Red Letter Day for me---So this tag turned out to be very appropriate for my announcements---
Early this morning as I was checking for the new challenges for today to my amazement I discovered that Project Tuesday had picked my project from last week to be featured today, thank you ladies, then I checked Tuesday Morning Sketches and low and behold Melissa and her random generator picked my New Year Cocktail card to win a $10.00 gift certificate from Soft Pencil, Elizabeth has an Etsy shop, but in Jan. she's moving her digi's to her blog, she's got some really cute images. Keep your eye out in the coming days because I'll be using the images I picked out for my prize. If all that wasn't exciting enough, this afternoon when I got ready to get busy in my studio(I think I can call it that now, with all these wins under my belt) I found out over at The Color Dare, Riley had picked me and my Tissue Flower Love card to be featured stamper. Another reason this was so exciting is that this is the second time I've been featured stamper there. To be recognized by your peers is a huge achievement!! Thank You!
I had already planned to make a tag today for the challenge at Humble Pie. I don't usually make tags or bookmarks, but I've been a huge admirer of Tim Holtz for a long time. He can really whip out some awesome tags when he's demoing his products, and I've got a few of his products. So when I think of tags I think I need to use those products and have been a little imtimidated that my project wouldn't come up to snuff. Today, I think I broke through, it's pretty close.
I smushed my Distress Ink pads on my non-stick craft sheet, spritzed a little water, then mashed my tag in the colors being careful not to mix them together so they wouldn't get muddied, took the blending tool went over the whole thing with tattered rose and around the edges with antique linen, stamped my images with the Jet Black archival pad, and this is the part you can't see very well in the photo, but I spritzed the whole thing with Radiant Rain shimmer mist-solar gold(I already had this in my stash), in real life it's very sparkly, added the fibers and wah-lah you're done.
So--with the New Year coming on remember my tag, set some goals, and Hold on to those Dreams, they just may come true!
1Challenge:
Supplies: Manilla tag from Staples, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Ranger Distress Inks-antique linen, faded jeans, dusty concord, spiced marmalade, tattered rose, Stamps: Inkadinkado-99521 Angels, Scrappy Cat-SCR507 Inspirations, Radiant Rain Shimmer Mist-solar gold, EK Success Adornments Fibers.

Thank You Note Card Holder

It's time to send out Thank You's for all those wonderful Christmas presents we received. Project Tuesday has come up with this project to fit just that need and if you want to encourage someone to write thank you notes this would be a nice gift. Writing thank you notes sometimes seems like a dying tradition in this age of technology.
All the gals at Project Tuesday are very creative and they are always finding neat projects to challenge us with, and I have to say they find the best instructions and tutorials to make it easy for us to create these projects. Malisa, at yabugginme
gave the instructions for the note card holder and if you're not ruler challenged(like me, hubby gave me a quick lesson) this makes up very quickly. No bling this time, just very clean and simple.
2 Challenges:
Supplies: White Card Blank 4" X 5 1/2" The Paper Studio, Paper: Sunburn double-sided card stock, white card stock, Stamps: Stampin Up-True Friend, Wandering Words, Ink: Whispers-Green Leaf, Basic Grey-magnetic snaps, ribbon-Offray.

New Year Cocktail

Woo-Hoo--looks like I was tippling a few when I made this card. My glass is a little askew. This is one of my new stamps from Stampingbella, the more I use their stamps and see the new images they are coming out with, the more I like them. I finally broke down and purchased some little fairies from them. One might be debuting later tonight. It's nice and quiet here and I'm on a creative roll. I made this card for my sister's husband, he's a Jan.2 baby, so on the inside it will say,"Raise a glass of cheer to your Happy Birthday and a Happy New Year!".

Envelop Gift Bags

Merry Christmas! It's a Texas kind of day, here we can have a mini blizzard one day and the next day the sun comes up shining for a beautiful day.
Kim over at Humble Pie sometimes gives a mini tutorial, on 12-16 she showed how to make a gift bag out of a long envelop, and as I was looking at up coming challenges Get Sketchy happens to have their next challenge up: Trash To Treasure. Some times I put the cards I make in different envelops, so I'm left with odd and end envelops, I thought great use. The long skinny envelop I kind of had to fiddle with and the bottom looks kind of messy, but this was a first attempt. The next ones I do will be neater with practice. The second envelop was a 5 X7 so it was easier to get my hand down in to fold and tape the bottom. Love my score pal tape! Easy project for all you Mom's with kidos in school who need treat bags at Valentine and you'll be green as well as red and pink.
Supplies: Extra envelops, Stamp: CTMH-D1245 In My Heart, Rubber Stampede A909E Hearts Abound, Ink: VersaMark Ink Pad, CTMH-Z2128 Hollyhock, Z2102 Baby Pink, CTMH-Red embossing powder, Memories Mists-Strawberry Daiquiri, ribbon from stash.

Red Heart Shaker

Bitterly cold, and freezing roads now, hubby still has to go to work, hope most people are inside til he gets home in the morning.
I had to photograph my card leaning at this angle so you could see the confetti hearts. I had already gotten out quite a bit of Valentine supplies when we were going to make Cards For Heroes, just as I came down with curd. I'm forging on any way, I might get a small envelop full, but not a whole box.
2 Challenges:
Supplies: White Card Blank 5" X 7" Oriental Trading Co., Papers: K&Co.-Brenda Walton Sweet Talk Paper Pad, Stamps: Stampin Up-Sweet Centers, Stampendous-MTC12 Happy Heart Cube, Ink: VersaMark Ink Pad, Stampin Up-Riding Hood Red, Stampin Up-1 3/4" Circle punch, Stampin Up-Sweet Treat Cups, Bag of Chips Productions-heart confetti, red hemp cord.

Tissue Flower Love

Wow--What a surprise--we're having an almost blizzard here--yesterday it was 73--that's Texas for you--
I have to apologize to all you gals who made these tissue paper flowers a few weeks ago, because in all my notes I put on my new bulletin board right next to my computer I failed to make a note of the blog I first saw these on. I found this tissue in on of my gift bags from my birthday, it has a pink design on one side and white on the other. I cut 4 sizes of wavy circles by hand(the old fashioned way), 3 of each size except the smallest and there are 4 of them, I layered every other layer printed side, white side. Mash and roll in a ball in your hand, fluff out, poke a hole in the center and attach whatever kind of embellie you like, keep fluffing until you are happy with the results. You can ink the edges if you like, mine are inked with a light pink so you can't really tell. I attached mine to my card with glue dots.
Wah-lah--tissue paper flower!!

4 Challenges:

Supplies: Card Blank from Soft Suede card stock-Stampin Up 5 1/4" X 5 1/4", Papers: from my scrap stash, Stamps: Studio G-VS4911 Series 7, Ink: Stampin Up-Soft Suede, CTMH-Z2102 Baby Pink, Z2137 Olive, Stampin Up Pretties Kit-brad colored with pink Sharpie marker, tissue paper, glue dots.

Life Is A Party

I had to think about these colors, and I'm still not sure this is Wild Wasbi, hope it's close. I'm kind of new to Stampin Up colors, although I've had a few of their stamps for awhile. Saturday Spotlight With Hidden Potential challenge is to pick the music within your soul, and even though I picked muted colors for this card I do love Jazz and I do think Life should be filled with some fun!

XOXO Heart Pin

I need to do a quick edit: Can you believe it?---I forgot to clap myself, my Mom came through to read my post and reminded me especially since this is for Stamping 411's sketch and guess what they picked me as one of 5 featured stampers on 12-11--I left them a thank you comment, but thanks again ladies. If the rest of you haven't been over to Stamping 411 you need to check them out, they've got neat sketches, instructions, tips, and lots of creative inspiration.

This card is quite different than what I started out to make. My friends were coming over Sat. to make Valentine cards for Cards For Heroes , but we've had plumbing problems, so our card making got cancelled, but my friend who lives closest surprised me anyway with an upside down apple pie and some more birthday gifts, getting old is not so bad, yet.
I just found the "Just Us Girls" challenge blog this week. They gave the instructions for the chalk board technique, that was new to me also, very easy, lots of possibilities, and the 2 hearts in the middle are that technique. I have to say it shows up better on darker card stock, but I couldn't resist trying it with the red and pink.
4 Challenges:
Supplies: Red Card Blank 4" X 5 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: from my scrap box, Stamps: CTMH-D1245 In My Heart, Inkadinkado 97637 Hearts, Ink: CTMH-Z2116 Cranberry, Stampin Up-Whisper White, CraftsEtc-pony beads, Stampin Up-pretties kit, RibbonFX Hobby Lobby-ribbon, Cuttlebug-slider die, Cuttlebug embossing folder-Heart Blocks, chalks, pop dots.

Favorite Colors Christmas

I'm on a little roll, looks like there will be some Christmas blog candy, keep checking back.
I'm not much on using glitter, but this glitter from PK Glitz the can be heat embossed doesn't quite get all over everything like regular glitter. It's pretty cool, I used my trusty glue pen on the snowflake, sprinkled with green glitter, gently shook off the excess, then heat embossed. The little red dot was already like that when I bought them. I did the little green heart the same way.
5 Challenges:
Supplies: White Card Blank 5" X 7" Oriental Trading Co., Papers: AC Patterned Paper Michael's, Stamps: Clearly Wordsworth V007 Carolers, Ink: VersaMark Ink Pad, CTMH-red embossing powder, glue pen, PK Glitz Glitter, American Craft Elements-ribbon, glitter dome stickers, pop dot, glue dot.

Sepia Birthday

I'm trying to get to 200 posts before the end of the year so I can give away my first blog candy and start the new year out with a bang.
I got this stamp some time ago and failed to note whose it is, it's an unmounted red rubber. If any body recognizes it let me know. I'm trying to be diligent in keeping up with all the products I use now because one of my goals for 2010 is to get published in one of the card magazines(big dreams:-)
Oops! I was so excited about working with the sepia(I just love it) I missed seeing it was supposed to be a thank you card, and my birthday stamp fit so well in that space, maybe that will be considered DARING--

Valentine Gift Bag

I've been working on this cute gift bag today. This is for the challenge at Project Tuesday . I'm writing this up a little differently because this is just for one challenge. Most everybody is still on Christmas and that's o.k., it's almost here, so you'll be seeing some more Christmas here in the next few days. I'm working on Valentine projects because a couple of my card buddies are coming over Saturday and we're going to be filling a box to go off to Cards for Heroes . Since I collect hearts, Valentine is never a big stretch for me.
I have to give a shout out to Melissa at Mme. Designs , she has the gift bag tutorial on her blog. Easy directions, with pictures. She has also designed some digital papers for InStyle Stamps , so while you're visiting here you might want to take a few minutes and check out Melissa's blog.

60's Going To Be Good!

Wonderful Evening Every One! Sixty must be going to be a magic number for me. My birthday was last Friday and ever since then it's been one good thing after another. Today, I was guest designer on Colour Q, then I found out I was the Featured Stamper on The Color Dare, and this evening I discovered I had been chosen to be in the Super Six on Card Patterns.
I have been making cards exclusively since 2006 and have bought a lot of magazines and been to a few rubber stamping conventions, all the while admiring a lot of talented peoples art, consequently I try to reach for a high level of excellence. I have always been involved in some kind of craft of one kind or another all my life, just no official degrees, so when I started my blog and found these challenges, being a pretty competitive person, naturally I dreamed of winning. So, to all you talented people and random generators who have chosen my cards and projects---Thank You!
You all inspire me to continue to raise my bar of excellence.

Colour Q Challenge #10--Guest Designer

Today is the big day! Arielle at Colour Q chose me to be one of her guest designers for this weeks challenge. It has been a privilege over the last few weeks to be joining in on her challenges, not only does she have this challenge blog, but she also has another personal blog and she has won some other challenges in the last few weeks herself. We need to send some love her way also for the new baby girl arriving at her house soon--What a Happy New Year present.
This cute snowman has inspired the colors for this week. I have to say it was a challenge to get the Bashful Blue in on this one for me, but when I pulled out my Stampin Up treat cups and my large snowflake it seemed like a match made in heaven.
I hope the inspiration picture and my card help to inspire some fantastic creations of your own for the Colour Q Challenge #10 this week. Good Luck and I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

Birthday Bliss Gift Card Holder/Featured Stamper

Good Morning Everybody--12-8-09--I just had to come back here and do a quick Yippee! Riley at The Color Dare has chosen me for the Featured Stamper for this challenge, Wow! featured stamper at her blog and guest designer on Colour Q , this is a red letter day for me!
I have been looking for an unusual gift card holder. I know there are a lot of patterns out there. It came to me in a flash tonight-why not look on YouTube
and low and behold there was Dawn Griffith. She was one of the first blogs I started lurking on when I was deciding whether to start a blog of my own. I'm putting her blog address here because this gal is talented and has some wonderful tutorials and videos, she gives really precise easy instructions. Check her out: http://dawnsstampingthoughts.typepad.com
I'll try to give a mini tutorial here:
  • Start with a 4" X 5 1/2" envelope , fold in half, cut off the right side of the flap, seal the left side of the flap. This is essentially your gift card holder, the rest is embellishing.
  • Cut a 2" X 2" square, stamp or embellish to your preference. Attach a pop dot to the top and bottom of the square. The space in the middle of the pop dots is where your ribbon will thread through to tie the bow for closure. Attach to front of holder.
  • Embellish the inside of holder to your preference.
  • Cut a piece of ribbon 15" long, thread under the square on front, bring around the back and tie a bow. Pretty easy--I think I got all that correct, good luck if you attempt this project. Don't forget, check out Dawn's blog, or YouTube for the video version of this project.
2 Challenges:
Supplies: Kraft Envelope 4" X 5 1/2", Papers: Stampin Up-Dusty Durango, Very Vanilla, small scrap my stash, Stamps: Stampin Up-Birthday Bliss, Studio G-VS4911 Series 17, Autumn Leaves Stampology-AL2745 Light The Candles, Ink: Stampin Up-Dusty Durango, ribbon-American Crafts Haute, pop dots.

Fish Bowl Hugs & Kisses

I have had this fish bowl card rattling around in my head for quite awhile. Shaker cards are a challenge for me because I'm not usually the puzzle girl and those seem kind of a puzzle to me. To my delight Stampin Up came out with treat cups, but they weren't quite round enough for my fish bowl stamp, but then I saw in one of the card magazines I buy and I can't find it now in my stacks, so I can't give proper credit, except to Impression Obsession they have come out with the exact size for my fish bowl and I think 3 other sizes to make easy shaker cards.

Thinking of You Butterfly

I just loved these colors at Dutch Dare and I got a butterfly on here that you don't need a magnifying glass to see for Danni at Danni's Dreams
The sketch at The Sweet Stop looked very challenging this time and even if I do say so myself I think I pulled it off pretty successfully.
Tomorrow is my birthday so I probably won't be on for a couple of days. I don't say it enough, but I want to thank all who stop by and leave such nice comments, they are much appreciated.
Since I may be gone for a couple of days, I'll make my big reveal now--drum roll---Arielle at Colour Q has chosen me and Jessica to be guest designers on Dec. 8th, so please check back here for the card I made for some inspiration for you gals and hop over to Colour Q that day to see what the new challenge will be for that week. Double Ornament

I finally used my Stampin Up ornament punch, so versatile and so fun. These ornaments are punched out of patterned paper. The blue was a light blue, so I used the Stampin Up Bermuda Bay marker to color that area to go with one of the colors in the Diva Coffee Break Designs color challenge. These are truly alternate Christmas colors for me. I'm a died in the wool red, green, and gold Christmas girl.

Holly Jolly Easel

Tuesday was a big day for me. My husband surprised me with a new flat screen monitor for my computer for the big 60 on Friday. We spent the day getting the old one out and getting the new one in, playing around with the settings and, oh my goodness, it's one of the nicest surprises I've ever gotten. That's saying something for me because I don't like surprises. Some other general living was thrown in and low and behold when I sat down and started this new post I looked at the clock and it's Wednesday.
I had been playing around with this card all day in between the other fun and I think I've hit
