Before I start sharing how I did this I want to leave you a link to Netty's Craftings. Annette always comes and leaves me encouraging and admiring comments even though our styles are quite different. She says she loves to take old cereal boxes and jazz them up. Usually, when I look at an old cereal box that's exactly what it looks like to me, but she has inspired me to stretch my wings and I think today I have created something very arty from an old cereal box, that I hope will make her proud of a long distance student.
I printed the picture on copy paper, wadded it up before it was dry to get lots of crinkles, cut the middle piece to fit the arch exactly, the two sides were a little thin, glued them to the 2 1/2" X 4 1/4" arches made from the cereal box cardboard, smeared broken china distress crackle paint all over the edges. I let that dry, I only got tiny crackles, so I'm going to have to practice, but it was o.k. for this project. Sponged black ink all around the edges and on the crackle paint, Stamped the flourishes and bats in black, stamped the skull and Spooky on Tempting Turquoise with black ink and cut out, raised them on pop dots, attached the hinges, and gave the whole thing a couple of sprays with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch.
Hop over to Gingersnap Creations for some wonderful inspiration and stretch your wings.
I'm also entering this in the Creative Inspirations challenge: Spooky--I think it kind of fits the theme.
