Peel Off Greetings

Okey Dokey, the ladies at Bah! Humbug! have challenged us to use Peel Offs. Low and behold I have Peel Offs in my stash, and I bought them from Paper Wishes for just this reason, to make ornate stacked cards. You have to be willing to do a little bit of fussy cutting as you get to the top of your stack, but I think it's well worth the effort. You come out with a stunning special card, in this case Christmas.
I don't think I've ever entered a challenge twice, but today  maybe a first. Cute Card Thursday Challenge is Dimensions. I already entered my Altered B, this card is really dimensional even if you can't tell it from the picture.
Finally, the sketch for this card is from Stamping 411, I try to play on a regular basis, but sometimes don't make the deadlines, it's that pesky general living thing that gets in the way creative play.
3 Challenges:
Supplies: Ivory Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Very Vanilla, Marco's Paper-Stardream Stationery, Hobby Lobby-Magic of the Season Paper Pack, Hot Off The Press-Dazzles Stacked Oval Stickers, Stamp: See-D's-Christmas Messages, Ink: VersaMark Ink Pad, CTMH-gold embossing powder, Craf-T Products-Metallic Rub-Ons Sunburst, pop dots.

Sunflower Friend

After general living commitments today I have got to spend the remainder of the day in my studio.
First, I got a nice comment from my friend Liz(she is one of my first followers).  She invited me to a Sunday OSAAT Egg Hunt! with Stitchy Bear Stamps. I've tried a couple of times to make Stitchy Bear Stamps a clickable link, but for some reason it won't take, so please hop over to  Liz's blog and check out the goings on.
Second, I had already decided to participate in Stamptacular Sunday Challenge Birthday Build-A-Card hop. This is the second one they have had and they have even more generous prizes than they had the first time. You have until midnight EST to participate, if you're not slow as molasses like me you can jump in for some fun. They are making some innovative changes to their challenge to make it even better than it was, well worth your while to give them a try if you haven't found them already.
On to my card for the Build-A-Card Challenge and I'm also going to enter it into their weekly challenge which is Flower Power, hope that's o.k. with the girls. It just so happened that I had this set of stamps sitting on my to be used soon pile and I kind of had an idea forming in my mind. So, with the 11 steps from the Stamptacular Design Team and a sketch from a new to me challenge blog: Moving Along With The Times this is the card that came to life. I know you all must get tired of me clapping myself, but without clapping I'm going to say, "I Love It !"
3 Challenges:
Supplies: Ivory Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Chocolate Chip, Barely Banana, yellow and green plaid paper unknown, Stamps: Stampendous-Sunny Flowers, PrintWorks-Great Birthday, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Coffee, CTMH-Z2153 Sweet Leaf, Z2162 Honey, Spica Glitter Pen-yellow, Distress Stickles-Aged Mahogany, Ranger Alcohol Ink-Expresso, Prima Flowers, Stampin Up-Designer Label punch, Stampin Up-Hodpodge Hardware, Watch Us-sun charm, Crafts Etc-gold Lame cord, Michael's-gold dot stickes, Offray-green ribbon, American Crafts-yellow ribbon, The Paper Studio Spare Parts-mini heart brads, pop dots.

Happy Sunday Morning!
I've been wanting to make one of these Flower Pot cards for a long time and Project Tuesday came up with the challenge for me to jump into.So for a first attempt and all papers out of my scrap box, maybe not to bad. I think next time I will try to improve on my leaves, but I do like those fabric brads for the flower centers.

Altered B

I haven't made a lot of altered projects since I had my craft business and my partners and I were doing craft shows. This would have been a big seller back then. Now it will grace one of the walls of my art studio.  I don't know if you'll be able to read on the little hanging tag, but it says, "do what you love", and I do love creating.
I don't think of myself as a flowery person, but this project just kept saying flower made with heart scallop spellbinder nestabilities and in my life I have learned to listen to those small whispers. I used Expresso, Pesto, and Stream alcohol inks so I hope your computer screens show up the Expresso on mine it's coming out kind of dark plum.(I'm still lighting challenged)
5 Challenges:
Supplies: Big Chipboard Letter-Michael's, Aluminum Foil, Papers: Stampin Up, Vellum, Stamps; Hot Off The Press-Flights of Fancy, CTMH-D1212 Playful Flourishes, Scrappy Cat-Inspirations, Ink-Ranger Archival Ink-Coffee, CTMH-Z2136 Ocean, Ranger Alcohol Inks-Expresso, Stream, Pesto, Spellbinder Nestabilities-Classic Scallop Heart, Stampin Up-Pretties Kit brad, Plaid-metal charms, Stampin Up-Heart to Heart punch, glue dots.

Glitter Easter Bunny

This is the first card I made using Polka Doodles sketch, thought it turned out pretty cute, and qualifies for a bunch of challenges. Do you ever get to feeling pretty smug and then realize oops, there's a small hiccup, you didn't follow the instructions? That's happened to me all week. Kind of like on your computer, sometimes you can have to many programs opened at one time, but I'm trying to hang on to my time in my studio for a little sanity.
At Just Scraps Challenge we are to tell what inspired us for her New Beginnings in Pastel challenge. Well, it's been such a cold snowy winter and even here in Texas when we usually don't have snow, most of the time winter is just brown, in the Spring when the grass starts to come up in the yards and fields it's so green and fresh and it always reminds us of happy Easter egg hunts in years past.
10 Challenges:
Supplies: Pink Card Blank 5 1/2" X 4" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up and scraps, Stamps: Studio G-Series 41, Ink: CTMH-Z2166 Tulip, Spica Glitter pens, regular hole punch, Stampin Up-1 3/4" circle punch, Coluzzle shape cutting template-circle, doodlebug design, Inc-sugar coating glitter, Amy's glittering Glue, Ranger Distress Stickles-Aged Mahogany, Stampin Up-Sizzix texture plate-Lg. Birthday Block

I've kind of had an up and down week and seemed to have trouble paying attention to all the instructions on my challenge list. I got a card all made and lined up quite a list of challenges that it will qualify for and got ready to photograph it then realized it was supposed to not only be the sketch, but I was to use the colors blue and brown. Back to the drawing board and here's the card I came up with, which only fits the Polka Doodles challenge: Week 11 Challenge-Sketch & Theme

Supplies: Lt. Brown Card Blank 5 1/2" X 4" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up, Stamps: Hero Arts-Design Block Birthday, Art Gone Wild-Candle Border, Autumn Leaves-Light the Candles, Scrappy Cat-Birthday Wishes, Ink: Stampin Up-Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Tim Holtz idea-ology Fragments, EK Success-1 1/2" circle punch, Ranger Glossy Accents, blue hemp cord, decorative scissors, Fiskars-Scallop Sentiment border punch, Stampin Up-Scallop Trim Corner punch, glue dots.

Smile

I just had to use this little Phoebe from stamping bella for this Smile card because every time I look at her I Smile. I tried to find a really good smile quote to go on the inside, but in the end I decided to leave it blank for now. I did find a quote I particularly liked however, so I will share it with you here: The world always looks brighter from behind a smile. ~Author Unknown
We also need to remember smiles create less wrinkles.
I'm going to add another challenge blog to my side bar. I found it while browsing on Yvonne's Creative Cards, it looks like it's going to be a fun place to play. It's called Moving Along With The Times, click on it if you haven't found it and see what you think.
4 Challenges:
Supplies: White Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up, polka dot unknown, Stamps: stamping bella-Phoebe Keeto, Stampendous-Sunny Flowers, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Ranger Inkssentials White pen, Copic CiaoE51, CTMH markers-hollyhock, sweet leaf, heavenly blue, baby pink, ocean, blush, Spica Glitter pen-clear, Coluzzle Shape Cutting template-Oval,  Stampin Up Piercing grid, Wal-Mart-button, ribbon-Offray & Michael's, pop dots.

Vintage Christmas

There's a little story behind this card.
I have missed the sketch challenge at The Sweet Stop for the last few weeks and wanted to use their sketch after I found this handsome Vintage Santa image in my Print Master 11 software, but then discovered after I finished the card that I didn't do the spin on the sketch challenge. Then, realized there is no stamping on this card, but the stripe paper is hand stripped by me because in allllll the paper I have, I didn't have any I thought that would go with these colors or theme.
But, after all the dust settled today and I thought I had messed up my blog by trying some new features offered, got that back the way it was so I could post, I like the way this card turned out even if there is no stamping. Whew! I'm sure we've all had days like that.
3 Challenges:
Supplies: Ivory Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: The Paper Studio, Stampin Up, Marvy Brush Markers-crimson lake, olive green, CTMH marker-parchment, Stampin Up marker-soft suede, Marvy gold gel pen, Gold Metallic Rub-On-Craf-T Products, Making Memories-holly brads and leaves, Offray-gold ribbon, image from PrintMaster 11, pop dots.

Pucker Up

I found myself changing another sketch up just a little. Instead of the focal image being round it was supposed to be rectangle, but I needed to fit my orange on here because this sketch worked perfect for the idea I had in my head, other than that one thing:-) Thank you for allowing a little creative liscense ladies, sometimes you say we can change the shapes.

Spring Nest

My friend pointed out to me that this will be my 100th post for 2010. That's just amazing to me. I first read the magazine Artful Blogging in 2008 thought it was quite interesting what people were creating. I never thought I would be one of those people, but with encouragement from my friend Linda and my husband, I'm in my 3rd year of blogging and getting ready to create another blog for my reading interests. By now you all know I love a good challenge and Linda has found a reading challenge that I am going to participate in with my new blog. If you are readers or just a little curious when I get my new blog constructed come on over and visit.
On to my card for today, I can't seem to get more than one card created before 10 pm each day, lots of general living going on here right now.
I took a little bit of liberty with the sketch at Our Creative Corner. They showed 3 circles down the middle, so I'm kind of counting my 2 little red flowers as the top and bottom circle because I needed a touch of red for the color challenge at CCEE Stampers. My pretty flower burst is from a piece of 12 x12 paper from heidi grace designs, but I stamped the bird nest in the middle and paper pieced the eggs. We're all looking for our first robins so we'll know spring is truly here.
3 Challenges:
Supplies: Ivory Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: heidi grace designs Day Dream Believer/Floral Double Sided cardstock, purple unknown, Stampin Up-Soft Suede, Stamps: Am. Crafts-Seeds, Stampin Up-Polka Dot Punches, Ink: Stampin Up-Soft Suede, CTMH-Z2108 Brown Bag, Z2160 Twilight, Z2161 Petal, Stampin Up-Sizzix Small Dots texture plate, Stampin Up-Scallop Trim border punch, Scallop Trim corner punch, Prima flowers, My Momento-Bubbles stickers, Bazzill Basics-tiny, tiny brads, pop dots.

Bunny Blooms

I used one of the other bunnies in this set to make my Easter cards last year. It's such a versatile set and these bunnies are so my idea of Easter bunnies I find myself reaching for this set most often this time of year.
There's a lot of masking on this card. I stamped the bunny, then put on cloud masks, bunny mask, stamped the grass, sponged on the blue sky, then removed the masks and finished coloring and stamping  the rest of the scene. Wah Lah, Scene It!
I also masked the flowers on the belly band then stamped the Happy Easter in black, then masked the Happy Easter and stamped the flowers in Hollyhock.

Masquerade

An amazing day--we got snow, again, I think this is the most snow we have gotten in my adult life here in Texas all in what we term as winter.
Hubby is on vacation this week. Then as amazing as the snow is, I'm still in shock from bringing in the mail yesterday and clapping, you know me and my clapping thing. The fabulous magazine Just Cards! by Scrap & Stamp Arts sent me a copy of the Spring 2010 issue because they chose my Halloween card Smell My Feet to be in this issue. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, that's 2 magazines that have published 2 of my cards. I'm so excited. I'm going to have to figure out how to put some kind of I've been published box on my side bar. There may be some more excitement later and I could add to the box because I sent off 2 more packets to 2 other publications a few weeks ago, you never know.
I have to let you know also about a new challenge, at least to me, Just Scraps. Jean came over and left a really nice comment on my Spring Butterfly Card and invited me to participate. This is for Challenge #2, so add Just Scraps to your lists for some more challenging fun.
This card is for 3 Challenges. On the Sketch and Stash Challenge they always like for you to tell what new or stashed items you used on you projects. So, let's see, that would be the felt heart trim I've had for awhile, the red crinkly paper behind mask, I only use it in small bits, I like it so much, for some reason have trouble parting with it, and last but not least, my new Pinking Hearts border punch from Stampin Up, using the technique of running it through the crimper and oooching it around for trim. I think it made a pretty cool effect behind the mask.
Supplies: Red 5 1/2" Square card, Papers: Me&My Big Ideas Bright Coordinates Paper Pad, Stampin Up-Black, Whisper White, red crinkly unknown, Stamps: Fiskars-Cameo Ovations, Mask from PrintMaster 11, Ink: Stampin Up-Ruby Red, Recollections-heart trim, Sulyn red Xtra fine glitter, Amy's Glittering Glue, Suze Weinberg's Pure Glittere-ruby slippers, Recollections-pearl and rhinestone stickers, Stampin Up-Pinking Hearts border punch, Fiskars crimper, Fiskars shape cutter templates-Ovals-1, pop dots.

Flap Birthday

This cute little flap card, instructions compliments of Splitcoast Stampers and Rose Ann Reynolds. If you have found a better resource for projects and techniques for free than Splitcoast you need to let me know, so far I don't see how you can beat all the talent and generousity  coming from that community.
Just a small aside before I list the challenges. Here is this ribbon again that when I pull ribbon for turquoise with some shine this comes out of my ribbon bin, but as you can see it photographs a very pretty royal blue, which also made the gable green paper that the cake is stamped on look blue. I have really enjoyed my light box setup, but I'm still photo challenged sometimes.
7 Challenges:
Supplies: Papers: K&Co Hopscotch Designer Paper, Stampin Up-gable green, very vanilla, Sunburn Two-Sided card stock, Stamps: Stampin Up-Whimsical Words, The Paper Studio-Make a Wish, Gina K Designs-festive labels, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Stampin Up-Bermuda Bay, Riding Hood Red, Spica Glitter pens, Basic Grey-magnetic snaps, Stickles-Frosted Lace, ribbon-Michael's.

Snowman Jolly Christmas

This is called a Side Step Card. I found the instructions on Julie Davison's site. I scored my card on the small side so I would have room for my Christmas Martini glass, it is from Impression Obsession . Bah! Humbug! wants us to combine as many of the elements that have been the theme of all their challenges to date. Quite a feat, but one of the girls managed to do it. You have to admire such talent. After much consideration I came up with a way to include: holly, snowman, glitter, and trees, I think that's all. I've had this cut and emboss Snowman set for over a year and finally put it to the test. I'm pretty pleased, and I think the circles and embossing folder for them will be very versatile in other ways on some more cards. I most always like to pick supplies that can be used in more than one way. Thanks to Bah! Humbug! I'm going to have some really neat Christmas cards to send out to friends and family come December.
1 Challenge:
Supplies: Papers: Stampin Up-Whisper White, all other from scrap box, Stamps: Impression Obsession-Holiday Margaritat, Recollections-Merry Merry, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, CTMH-Z2112 Citrus Leaf, Z2116 Cranberry, Spica Glitter pens, CTMH marker-citrus leaf, Cuttlebug cut & emboss-Snow Fun, Glitter Dome stickers, Stampin Up-ticket punch, Stickles-Black Diamonds, Suze Weinberg's Pure Glitter-Ruby Slippers, Mermaid.

Singing In The Rain

Exciting weekend. Got to see Alice in Wonderland at the movies, don't listen to the critics, it was great. Things have been a little crazy at our place, looks like it's going to be that way for another few days, I'm trying to squeeze in studio time.
This little character is a digi stamp from The Pixie Cottage , they have a new challenge every Wednesday and this week they offered this cutie for free. You can't pass up those kinds of deals. I found their blog by following the Touch of Creation Blog, Piali is very creative and I've enjoyed being inspired by her creations for awhile now. Wedding Gift Card

I needed a wedding card that also doubles as a gift, so this is a Wedding Gift Card. I made one on 2-28-10 with a pretty flower on the front and actually got picked in the top 3 for that week at Stampin' Royalty. If I remember correctly the instructions are on Splitcoast Stampers site, they've got lots of neat projects, and technique tutorials. I didn't photograph the inside because I already signed it. I probably won't get any comments on this one because sad to say it doesn't fit any challenges, but I know the special couple will like it so that will be praise enough. I can be greedy for praise sometimes, oops, be honest, all the time :-)
I'll go ahead and list the supplies, somebody might be curious what I used to made this pretty.

Supplies: Papers: Stampin Up-Whisper White, PaperHearts Handmade Papers, Black, Red and Silver card stock unknown, Stamps: Stamps By Judith-Wedding Cube, Autumn Leaves-Flourishes Rhonna Farrer, Stampin Up-Well Scripted, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Brilliance-Starlite Silver, Sharpie Poster Paint Pen-Silver, LePlumeII marker-pale pink, Stampin Up marker-soft suede, Sakura Gelly Roll Pens-Clear Star and silver, PrismaColor pencils, gamsol, Ranger Glossy Accents, Stampin Up-Scallop Trim corner punch, Scallop Trim border punch, 1 1/4" square punch, ribbon-Offray, glue dots.

Bubble Bath

This is one of the digi stamps from Sassy Design Studio that I won at the Dutch Dare Card Challenge a few months ago. I think I'm finally getting a little more comfortable with manipulating the digi's in Microsoft Word. I printed this off on Stampin Up Very Vanilla and colored it with PrismaColor pencils and gamsol, didn't experience any smearing of the printer ink. I'm going to try printing some digi's on 140lb. watercolor paper(if it will go through my printer)so that I can color them with my markers to mimic copic markers. I've got a couple of flesh tone copic markers, but so far don't want to make a big investment since I've got so many plain markers.
I like the way my bubble bath girl turned out so soft, reminded me of the way Doris Day was filmed in her movies.

Supplies: Ivory Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: CTMH, Stampin Up-Very Vanilla, Best Occasions Pearlescent card stock, Digi Image-Sassy Design Studio, Clearly Wordworth-Tiny Wise Words, Ink: CTMH-Z2117 Crystal Blue, Stampin Up-Sizzlits-Lots of Tags, Stampin Up-Scallop Trim corner punch, Scallop Trim border punch, ribbon-Offray.(no pop dots, can you believe it?:-)

So much general living this week, won't bore you with details, suffice it to say, there may not be many posts.
As you can see I did not bring out the sewing machine, yet. This will have to pass for stitching, faux that it is. I wasn't sure I could pull these colors off for a Christams card, but I think this is kind cool looking in it's own different way.

Yellow-lishish

You have to love yellow to like this card, it was very hard to photograph and alllll the little imperfections show up, which really bugs me, because when you're actually holding it they're not so noticeable. Those imperfections are what I was talking about when I wrote the adhesive comparison, if the glue glider adhesive gets stacked for some reason it makes bumps in the paper and if you don't catch it before it goes down, to late, it's permanent.
This flower is such a versatile stamp, I've seen it done so many different ways, all pretty, no way to choose a favorite. I finally decided to try my hand at stamping it. It's stamped on whisper white with versamark, buttercup, and clear embossing powder.
Hope my sunny creation makes you smile, we're all ready for Spring!

Celebration

No, you're not seeing things. This card looks very similar to a card I posted last week, but I already had this image stamped and blinged up, just didn't have enough bling to make enough for my friends batch of cards so I held it back. Just so happens Paper Sundaes sketch for this week is similar to the one I used last week. I found this glittery star paper in my stash and I think these colors make a very masculine birthday card, even with the bling.
Creative Card Crew are celebrating their 1 year! Let's give them a big thanks--they always have fun and interesting challenges, click on the link and Happy Birthday them, the neat thing is they are giving gifts instead of getting gifts, that's pretty generous.

Feeling Yucky

I got the idea for this card at my post office yesterday afternoon, they are selling greeting cards now, who knew? I wasn't going to post my card at first, but the longer I worked on it, it turned out enough different that I'm not totally copying, don't like to do that.
I finished my friends batch of cards this evening and still felt on a roll, so I'm going to include this card as a little bonus, just because I think it turned out kind of cute.

Get Well Pickup

Before I get onto my card I'm going to tell you about a little comparison test my friend and Stampin Up demonstrator Linda asked me to perform. There is always the issue of adhesive and adhesive dispensers. The cost, ease of changing cartridges, permanent, removable, to name a few. I compared the Glue Glider Pro and the Snail from Stampin Up. The Glue Glider Pro is a cute pink and green dispenser, light weight, easy in the hand. The adhesive comes out of the dispenser in a continuous line of small rectangles and their permanent is permanent, I've had a little bit of a learning curve with this one because I can't always seem to get to the edges like I like without going over. When I fold back what I've gone over with it seems a little thick. The Snail is a small sleek dispenser, controlled more with fingers than the whole hand. The adhesive comes out in a continuous thin strip. I was able to get all the way to the corners without having to run over and fold back, I did notice that as the adhesive is dispensed I got some little balls of build up on the left or right edge of where you press down to dispense, easy enough to pick off, but an issue, again permanent is permanent. The Glue Glider Pro is a 40' cartridge, the Snail is a 39.33333' cartridge, pretty close. I found the best price on refills for the Glue Glider at Scrapbooking Alley for $6.35 each. Of course, I will order my refills for Snail from Linda for $4.50 each. I used the Snail first and made my cards the way I always do, no skimping, 4-5" X 6 1/2" and 5-4" X 5 1/2", I was shocked to discover that I was able to complete 5-5" X 6 1/2" cards only 3/4" done with the Glue Glider, I had to get out another refill to finish the cards. This comparison was not done to put Glue Glider Pro to shame or anything like that, I have enjoyed using it, but I believe I'm going to change over to the Snail, I think I'll come out a little bit more economical on it, and it will help Linda's business, it's always nice when we can shop locally or help out small business owners. I have to say also that I have found Stampin Up products to be very high in quality.

Now,This is the get well card I created for my friend's batch, next will be sympathy and hopefully in the mail late tomorrow, but knowing me, first thing Tuesday. How about those hub caps? Pretty cute, oops, maybe kind of cool. You can tell I'm not up on current slang. There you see my new corner heart punch and it's a good thing I ordered  them when I did because I hear they are on back order. You'll love them when you get yours.
