Candy Cane Merry Making

I've been telling myself not to be whinning because general living gets in the way of  participating in challenges, but general living must come first. So my posts will be spotty for a little while longer.
I was able to get my card done for Bah! Humbug!. I'm determined to keep up my Loyalty bargain with them, I might win a big prize at the end of the year. Check these girls out if you haven't already, they've got a fun thing going on.
It just so happens that one of my friends is cleaning out her craft supplies and has generously passed them my way. This wonderful ribbon was in the bag, just perfect for this challenge at Bah! Humbug!

Snowflake Holidays

Practicing with punches to get more than just a corner punch or even learning how to make a corner with a straight border punch is very interesting. Really makes the most out of your tools.
It's Christmas time again this week and even found 3 other challenges this would fit into. I think I've even made it before the deadlines. It's amazing when you get behind how difficult it is to get back on track.
The snowflake charm and the silver dots are my metal. I have to tell you I'm really loving this pad of Christmas paper from My Mind's Eye so you'll probably get tired of seeing it before Christmas is over.
4 Challenges:
Supplies: White Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: My Mind's Eye-Christmas Holiday Glitter Book, Best Occasions textured card stock, Stamps: Inkadinkado-98412 Christmas Tag Wishes, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Cobalt, Martha Stewart-Snow Flurry punch, Stampin Up-1 1/4" circle punch, Making Memories-epoxy eyelet charms, Craf-T Products-Luster Rub-Ons, Michael Richards-metal dots, pop dots.

Lovely As A Tree

These colors translated so good for me into a masculine birthday. What guy wouldn't love to shoot those birds out of that tree? I've got some men in our family that would think that was a great birthday.

A Bit of Magic

I guess I've had vintage on my mind the last few days. It's a shame I couldn't come up with this idea yesterday. Oh well. The 4 Challenges this is for are not vintage, but with these new Stampin Up stamps I got I will be able to create vintage I think.
Check out the paper piecing on the fairies dress, pretty cool. Every time I do paper piecing it amazes me. If you cut it just right you can't even tell the transition. I've said I love The Paper Studio and boy have they come out with some new paper packs that are wonderful. This one is Mirabelle, as you might have guessed very vintage. O.K. enough with the vintage.
Supplies: 5 1/2" square card made with Blush Blossom, Papers: Stampin Up, The Paper Studio-Mirabelle Paper Pack, Stamps: Stampin Up-A Little Bit of Magic, Elements of Style, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Coffee, Stampin Up-Old Olive, Copic Markers, Sakura Gelly Roll Pen-Clear Star, Fiskars shape cutting templates-Circles-1, Super Size Circles, Stampin Up-Sizzix texture plate-Flourish, Hero Arts-gemstone stickers, lace-Offray, pop dots.

Happy Wishes

I've decided to kind of go through my thought process on this card because of the nature of the challenges I have entered it in. A lot of times people ask, "What's your starting point or how do you come up with an idea?"
My starting point with this card was the stamp on the inside. Susan at 52-Card Pickup has challenged us to quit being stagnate and do a little bit of good around us. The majority of us are not world leaders, celebraties, or any kind of a leader and that's o.k. We all occupy a small bit of space in the universe, it's not hard to look around your little bit of area and find nice things that you can do for someone you might not have even noticed before. To smile at someone at the grocery store and say hi, how are you today, may just be what that person needed. It's simple to spread a little bit of happiness without much effort.
I then had to choose some used stash that was mulberry paper and the sketch I picked made my ovals shape cutting template come into play.  I don't use a lot of ovals.
In thinking about the stamp and the overall scheme of things to come I chose brown and paired it with the subtle tones of green for the colors.
Tuesday Taggers has challenged us to Step Out of Our Comfort Zone. I had to really think about this one. I try to use a lot of different techniques all the time. I just talked about that last week and said I have dedided to call my style Merry Mix Up. Since I have now sewed on two cards I couldn't use sewing and believe me that's out of my comfort zone. So, I chose brayering and cutting an aperture in the front of my card. I have admired Michelle Zindorf for a long time, she is the queen of brayering. But, after all was said and done today I'm quite pleased with my brayering effort.
It's amazing to sit down and pick apart  your thought processes when you look at your finished piece. Sometimes all the pieces just fall into place and sometimes you have to move things around, add, or eliminate to make your overall conception come together. It's a love to create that drives the process.
5 Challenges:
Supplies: Ivory Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: mulberry, brown, and glossy papers unknown, Stamps: Hero Arts-K4883CardArt Happy Wishes, Stampin Up-Elements of Style, Ink: Ranger Adirondack-Woodlands, CTMH-Z2111 Chocolate, VersaMark Ink, Zing Brown embossing powder, Stampin Up-Sizzix Embosslits Beautiful Wings, pearl stickers colored with a brown sharpie, small heart brads, Fiskars shape cutting die-Ovals-1, ribbon-Offray, brayer.

Fishing Birthday

Here's my 2nd card for today. More paper and stickers from The Paper Studio. This was a pack that I got when I first started in card making. I've also had my Metallic Art Pencils from Stampin Up for quite a long time, I guess these were waiting on the shelf for just the right project. It all came together today when I found this free digi download on Cards For Men. The artist is Claire from Hope Jacare. I've been a big fan of hers after she had become a follower of mine and I went to visit her and quickly became a fan and a follower. I just love her style. These metallic pencils were perfect for this fish. I colored with light green and shaded with a blue green then blended all together with Windsor and Newton Sansodor(low odour solvent),filled in scales with gold gel pen and redotted the black dots with a fine point sharpie pen. I do believe he's a very handsome fish. Thanks Claire for the free digi!
I'm starting to get the hang of digi's so it's starting to be more fun.

Magical Wishes

This is one of my cute little fairy stamps from Lili of the Valley Ltd, and I thought she would be so cute paired with some of this Green at Heart paper from Basic Grey. You have to take note of a couple of things on this card. First, the little charm that I made with Shrink Plastic. I'm going to be experimenting with some of my metallic inks to see if they will shrink also. It is so fun to see what you have stamped shrink before your eyes. Second, I sewed with the machine again and I know you sewers out there will get a kick out of knowing that there is a right and wrong way to put in the bobbin. Can we all say,"learning curve". :-)
3 Challenges:
Supplies: White Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Basic Grey-Green at Heart, Stampin Up-Whisper White, Stamps: Lili of the Valley-On Tiptoe, Autumn Leaves Flourishes by: Rhonna Farrer, Stampin Up-Vintage Labels, Ink: Momento-Tuxedo Black, Stampin Up-Kiwi Kiss, Copic Markers, Bic Mark It pens, Darcie Shrink Plastic, silver jewelry cord, sewing machine, pop dots.

PBG Birthday

Here's a pretty card to start a new week of creating. I wish you could see the sparkle on each of the stripes. I went down each side of the dark grey stripes with the Clear Star gel pen. This usually happens when I'm going for subtle, it doesn't show up in the photo. I've also been looking around on You Tube and discovered several videos of how to use your punches in different ways. I made these scallops by taking the guard off my lg. corner rounder punch and punching around the semi-circle. It makes a nice wide scallop.
3 Challenges:
Supplies: Black Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper, Whisper White, CTMH-grey stripe paper, white textured card stock unknown, Stamps: Stampin Up-Vintage Labels, Smorgasborders, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Stampin Up-Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Stampin Up-Iridescent Ice embossing powder, The Paper Studio-gemstone stickers, Offray-ribbon, EK Success lg. corner rounder, Stampin Up-ticket punch, pop dots.

Graduation Hat

I just had to come back and do an edit. When I went over to enter my card at Incy Wincy, to my surprise I had won 1st Place for the last challenge. This really makes my day, I've been kind of  down because of missing so many challenges. I know you can all hear me clapping !! My sister asked for a special graduation card for a friend's son. I had been browsing at The Cutting Cafe, they have a lot of neat templates and digi stamps to go with them. This graduation hat template and the circle on top of the hat come straight to your computer ready to use. However, I had already found this tassel in the color I needed so I had to enlarge the hat so that it would be in perspective. On the inside I created the rectangle pocket so a gift card will slide inside. I created the sentiment in PrintMaster 11 so I would have the box around it. The sentiment is actually a stamp in the Stampin Up Summer Mini catalog, but I couldn't wait for my stamp to get here, so I'm giving credit for the use of the saying. I couldn't resit stamping all the stars and confetti to make the background paper because it is always a festive occasion when anyone graduates.
I did find 1 Challenge I can enter this into, I'm such a comment hog.
Supplies: Template from The Cutting Cafe, papers from my stash, tassel-Hobby Lobby, Sharpie Poster Paint Pen-Gold, Stamp: Inkadinkado-Birthday Fun, Ink: CTMH-Z2162 Honey, Stampin Up-1 1/2" circle punch.

Birthday in a Box

I've been missing so many challenges, I've been running around trying to make Mother's Day nice for my Mom. She has wanted patio furniture since we moved into this new house(4yrs, patient woman), ack, who knew there are so many different kinds of patio furniture. This afternoon I hit the jackpot, got it all home and she's a happy lady. Now Sunday will be afternoon brunch on the patio.
I have to give a shout out to the gals at The Play Date Cafe. I got picked in the Fab 4 for challenge #27, it was my pretty round card, I just love it when I win on a card I love. Hop over and check out their challenges, lots of talent and fun.
I couldn't wait til Sunday to do my Project Tuesday challenge(I'll be otherwise engaged) and low and behold while I was checking my challenge list they are not the only ones calling for something other than a card. Everybody's wanting us to stretch our wings and get into some altered art. Don't be afraid, rummage around the house, I bet you've all got something you can change up with paper, ribbons, and stamps. However, my project has no stamping on it this week. I found this sticker in my stash that was the perfect colors to go with this. The tin is a cookie tin that started life out with butter cookies in it. Years ago we started out sharing these around at Christmas and it became kind of a tradition that we have these every year. They are very good with hot chocolate and coffee. I have lots of these tins under the cabinets.
As you can see from the title and the second picture I filled this tin with a yoyo, bubbles, party poppers, and M & M's, if that's not a Birthday in a Box it's a good start.
5 Challenges:
Supplies: Cookie Tin, Papers: American Traditional Celebrate Bundle, Assorted ribbons, dimensional sticker, goodies for inside.

Snowflakes!

As usual I got in a hurry and didn't read all my notes on entering a challenge. I'm going to give The Pixie Cottage a link here for using their sketch, but I'm not entering this card on their site because it was supposed to have lots of flowers. Obviously, I've got lots of snowflakes, which is for Bah! Humbug! Challenge and I've distressed the heck out of everything for the challenge at Crafty Cardmakers.
You may not be seeing me for the next couple of days, a lot of general living has cropped up. There's a lot of neat challenges going on right now, so if you don't have a list of your own check out my side bar and go grab some fun.
2 Challenges:
Supplies: Ivory Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: My Mind's Eye Holiday Glitter Book, Best Occasions textured card stock, Stampin Up-Soft Suede, Stamps: Hampton Art-Tis the Season, The Paper Studio-Snowflakes, Ink: Stampin Up-Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, VersaMark Dazzle Ink Pad, Stampin Up clear embossing powder, P K Glitz embossable glitter, snowflake brads, pop dots.
