Gum Holder

This week at Project Tuesday we got the instructions from Mary(EmGee458-SCS Boards) for this cute gum holder. If you are a very energetic Mom of young children this would make a very cute party favor. Well, maybe not, a friend just told me birthday parties are quite different these days, much more elaborate. Sometimes my age does show. It's still a very cute project and mine is being sent off this week to a 5 yr. old great nephew. This is one that you can make your scrap box go a long way.
1 Challenge:
Supplies: Finished size: 2 1/2" X 3 1/4", Papers: Scrap box unknown, Stamps: Stampendous-Two You, Rubbernecker-birthday border set, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, CTMH markers, velcro dots, Stampin Up-Word Window punch.

Old St. Nick

We've gone from beach scenes to Christmas In July. I know there's a lot of places here in the U.S. that would probably trade for winter again because they are experiencing hotter temps than they are used to, but here in Tx., 101 is almost mild for this time of year. It's usually 105 or above about now.
5 Challenges:
Supplies: Cream Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" The Paper Studio, Papers: My Minds Eye-Signature Christmas Pad, Best Occasions textured card stock, Stamp: Recollections-Merry Merry, Ink: Ranger Distress Ink: frayed burlap, broken china, CTMH-Z2104 Barn Red, Stampin Up marker-black, CTMH marker-barn red, Amy's Glittering Glue, Stampin Up-Dazzling Diamonds glitter, ribbon-Michael's, pop dots.

Christmas Skaters

This week at Bah! Humbug! we are to create a Christmas scene. I thought this would be a good opportunity to practice with My Digital Studio. The background paper is Always Artichoke with white dots, the scallop at the bottom is cherry cobler scallop punch, and the scallop oval punch is cherry cobler with the sentiment on top. I printed this panel and trimmed slightly for my 4 1/2" X 5" card front, before adding the cherry cobler mat and adhering it to the card I drew the pond edges, masked the couple and the scallop tag and stamped the trees with Lovely as a Tree stamp set. Here comes your artistic eye--you have to envision the pond because I didn't make it blue and the dots look like snowflakes coming down.

Supplies: Cream Card Blank 4 1/2" X 5" Halcraft, Background, skaters, scallop oval, sentiment created in My Digital Studio Stampin Up, Stamp: Stampin Up-Lovely As A Tree, ribbon-American Crafts Elements, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black.

This is Tuesday Morning Sketches 1 yr. birthday month. Melissa is celebrating all month with each us picking our favorite sketches from last year and she provides the theme. I chose sketch #39 from March,'10, and the theme is a Summer Theme. I have a red rose bush that is in full bloom in this hot Tx. summer and is just beautiful, so hence, my summer roses bday card. I've also combined it with the Project Tuesday challenge of Paper Flowers. I got my new Stampin Up silver foil smooch yesterday, that's the sparkle on the rose and leaves.
My studio is all torn up right now, hubby and I moved some things last night in preparation for Saturdays big shifting and shuffling so this will probably be the last post you see from here until about Wednesday. I'm very excited to get my hubby in his own office.

Balloon BDay Easel

I've got a few announcements to make before I get to the card. There's some clapping going on again over here--You probably have noticed some new badges on my side bar. Melissa from Tuesday Morning Sketches has asked me to be Guest Designer for August, she'll be sending my assignments soon, so be sure to check back every Tuesday in August for some surprises. Sandra from Stampin' Royalty has invited me for a guest spot in Sept, I've got my assignment, but I'm saving that for a later surprise. This morning I found out I had won an honorable mention over at Always Playing With Paper. It's very exciting when you are found worthy and picked for honors by your peers. Thanks so much everyone.
I'm letting you all know also that for the next couple of weeks my posts my be kind of sparse. My husbands going to be on vacation and we are moving the cabinet in my studio that is full of computer and office supplies to the room that is going to be his new office. I'm also helping a friend flip her bedroom and office/craft room this coming weekend and we are trading some furniture with her to make her and my husbands offices work more efficiently, not to mention I get some wall space freed up in my studio for new shelving for my photo box and other goodies. In between all the shifting and shuffling I will be working on my guest spot assignments, I can't miss Bah! Humbug! Challenge, and hopefully a few more.

Strong Women

Susan at 52-Card Pick Up has challenged us this week to honor amazing women. I chose to add the word strong, as I have been privileged to be surrounded by strong, amazing women in my life. I was able to find this piece of clip art and it illustrates so perfectly how the strong, amazing women in my life have happily shared their knowledge and compassion with me as I have grown into a woman. My Mother's Mother, my Mother, my Mother-in-Law have been women who have held together our families with strength, grace, charm, and firmness of spirit that have not only touched our lives, but countless other lives that we don't even know about. My Grandmother was always a font of homilies and I usually hear her voice as I need an appropriate solution to problems that might arise. My Mother has always been johnny on the spot for all of us no matter what, and my Mother-in-Law has the same qualities. I have discovered that as long as I travel the path these women have forged for me I don't go wrong.

Supplies: White Card Blank 5 1/2" X 6" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up, Stamps: StampinUp-Sprinkles, heidi grace-words, Clip Art, sentiment generated in PrintMaster11, Ink: Stampin Up-Riding Hood Red, CTMH marker-Chocolate, Sakura Gelly Roll pen-White, Sizzix-Bigz-Dingbats #1, Fiskars shape cutting template-Circles-1, Stampin Up-Heart to Heart punch, glue dots.

The strip down the middle is on glossy card stock and is inked, sprayed, smashed, and dragged a little. I actually got 4 pieces of paper out of this endeavor this morning. Umbrella Spinner

I have been wanting to make one of these spinner cards for about a year now. You probably know how this goes. You go to a rubber stamp show, you see all kinds of new product and techniques, you buy like crazy because you just know you're going to rush home and put all your new toys to use. Let's see, I call it general living, I'm sure you have your own special name for IT. So, after savoring this little pack of instructions and die cut card fronts from Repeat Impressions , this challenge, On The Move! fit perfect.
I ran the Chocolate Chip card through with a Fiskars texture plate-Hearts, but I don't think they show up very well, and this stamp is one of my favorite sayings of all time.

Cherry on Top Award/Flower Thanks

I have to start out with some clapping this afternoon so this will a pretty lengthy post, but keep reading it will be pretty interesting. Sandra from Stamper on the Shore sent me a really nice award today. Coincidentally I was making this card for the Stampin' Royalty challenge which she is part of. So, I'm dedicating this card to Sandra. She has been one of my most loyal followers and always leaves me encouraging comments and she has provided me with some tips that have improved my blog.

This is the award, below you will find the 5 little things we have to do when we accept :
1. Thank the person who gave this award to you.
2. Copy the award and put it on your blog.
3. List 3 things which you love about yourself.
4. Post a picture you love.
5. Tag 5 people you wish to pass this award on to.
I've done the first 2, now on to the rest of the list.
3 Things I love about myself:  I always strive to be a positive person and look on the bright side of life.
I love my family and try to give them top priority.
I love my ability to create, it keeps me centered and sane. However, my
husband says all artists are quirky and a little off center, that's why they're
                                                 creative.

This is one of my most favorite pictures of all time. My husband and Mother saw an article in the newspaper about this art exhibit in Kansas City, Mo. A famous UK artist, MacKenzie Thorpe, created this 12 ft. heart along with some more of his sculptures were displayed in this beautiful park. This was in Nov., 2006 and they were determined that I get to see it in person(I'm a heart collector). This was the last big trip my Mom and I took together and combined it with a visit to her sister in Louisiana for Thanksgiving. I made this the wall paper on my computer and everytime my Mom comes in the office she says,"That was the greatest trip, wasn't it?"
Now, onto the 5 people I'm passing this onto:
Annette, at Netty's Craftings, she has a wonderful blog, is a very talented lady, and I do love all the
wonderful comments she leaves for me.
Monika, at Creative With Monika, she's my new friend from Germany, she has led me to some
challenges that are new to me, she's on several Design Teams, check her out if you get a chance.
Linda C, at The Funkie Junkie, another lady who is on Design Teams, she's very creative with a vintage
style, she's the one who has encouraged me to sew on my cards.
Steph, at Steph's Stampin, I actually got to met Steph in person and discovered she lives quite near
me, well, in Tx. terms, she was one of my very first followers, talented, and again leaves me wonderful
       comments.
Linda P,at Multicoloured Imagery, is the person who encouraged me to start my blog and helped lead
me through the beginning process. The name of her blog fits her perfectly because she truly is a multi-
talented person. She works full time, is writing a book, which will probably be a trilogy, sells Stampin
Up, and is the best darn researcher of information there is, and last but not least, is always there with
       positive encouragement for a friend.
So, after all the clapping and accepting I'm also going to enter this card in 2 Challenges:
  • Stampin' Royalty    SR#27-Sketch Challenge
  • The Color Dare    CD72-Certainly Blush Banana Sands-Sahara Sand, Certainly Celery, Blush Blossom, Barely Banana, Whisper White
Supplies: 5 1/2" Square White card blank, Papers: Stampin Up-Sahara Sand, Blush Blossom, Barely Banana, Whisper White, Stamps: Stampin Up-Best Blossoms, Watercolor Trio, Stem Silhouettes, Stampabilities-LeLondon Script, Ink: Stampin Up-Kiwi Kiss, CTMH-Z2118 Desert Sand, CTMH marker-desert sand, Spellbinders Nestabilities-Classic Scallop Squares Lg., Stampin Up-Med Oval punch, ribbon-Offray, pop dots.

Wow, this is probably the longest post I've ever made, but thanks for hanging in and as always Thanks for viewing,

This Soft Pencil Digi stamp is one of the first digi stamps I won. It's actually all one stamp, but for this apperture card I cut it apart. My kraft and red paper is redder in person, but turned kind of a grape color in the photo, it's the lighting thing again.

Sail Away

Looks like I'm starting the week out catty wampus. This really isn't as off kilter as it looks. I've missed the deadline for this sketch at The Sweet Stop so I'm leaving a link here instead of in the challenge list. If you like sketches with lots of layers they are the sketch challenge to check out if you haven't already. There's no stamping on this card because I chose to cut my boat out of a template, it was just the right size for this card and I wanted to use the heart paper for the sails.

Party Drinks

I have a little bit of clapping to do this afternoon. Project Tuesday picked me for featured stamper this week for my Fries Box project, then I discovered I had won first place at Tuesday Throwdown(some stamps, Yay) for my Apron Card, and The Color Dare gave me an honorable mention for my Life Moments card. Tuesday and Wednesday of last week were very lucky days for me. I keep trying to tell general living I can't win if I don't enter, but sometimes that falls on deaf ears. I just keep plugging along in my studio here and sometimes I find very exciting news to clap about.
My birthday border set of stamps from Rubbernecker Stamps(which I won last year) fit this card perfect. Makes you want to have a pool party, doesn't it?
5 Challenges:

Sugar Plum Meadow

This Basic Grey paper just looks like a summer meadow, and these C.C. Designs stamps have just been waiting for this card. My new Die-namics grass die cut from mftstamps with this mottled green paper from my scrap box went right along with this 3-D effect. This card was already so tactile that I just couldn't resist adding these Baja Breeze corduroy buttons with the blue and purple hemp cord. The butterfly embosslits die cuts with the little bit of green craft wire for antenna and the zig-zag pink stitching were the final balancing touches to this little beauty.
When we make anything for Tuesday Taggers we're supposed to mention and give a link to the sponsor, but I didn't see who the sponsor was this week. It's been Craft Barn quite a bit lately, so I'll leave a link to them and it is always a worthwhile trip to their site for lots of shopping fun.

Jazz Piano

When you're making your challenge list and you see 2 or 3 challenges that pop up and an idea immediately comes to mind you just can't wait to start pulling out all the supplies to create your card. This last week has been a great idea week for me. I knew exactly where the papers were that I wanted to use and how great was it that I won this piano digi not to long ago from Incy Wincy Designs. It is a perfect digi to paper piece. I also just had to show the inside because this piece of paper started life as a 12 X 12 sheet of wonderful jazzy paper(pardon the pun). I've made one other card out of this paper and tonight when I finished cutting for the front of this card I realized that the inside would fall just perfect for the martini glass and music notes. I haven't put any sentiment on the inside yet because again I want it to be something jazzy.
My new friend Monika happens to be the Guest Designer for the Jazzy Paper Designs challenge blog and she came over and invited me to join in. O.K., no more jazz puns, but if you haven't found this challenge hop over and check it out, looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.
4 Challenges:

Pixie Sparkle

It's really fun entering challenges, some just for the fun of it, some have prizes. This stamp set was a prize, it's called Starburst Fairies from The Stamp Man. When I saw this sketch, I immediately thought of this Heidi Grace paper and this set of stamps. Wish you could see the little bits of sparkle I added with the Clear Star pen, hence the name Pixie Sparkle.

Owl Note Card

I've had this little owl stamp for a long while and never used it. So when I came upon the Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge I thought, hmm. He would look really cute with this brown and pink ribbon, and I found this piece of paper in the DCWV Doodlin' Around Stack. It already had this scallop on it top and bottom, so I cute it apart and it was a perfect fit also. I colored the stamp with my Marvy Brush markers huffed on it to get all the colors damp again and stamped on Very Vanilla, after I cut the ovals I added the little heart bubbles over a few of the pink hearts just for some tactile appeal and doodled hearts and dots around the Soft Suede oval. Upon reflection, I should have doodled in a branch for the owl to sit on, but I guess we'll have to imagine him hovering to deliver this note.

Life Moments

I'm not sewing on every card, but I sure am glad Linda, The Funkie Junkie twisted my arm and told me that once I got started I probably wouldn't be able to quit. This layout just begged me to distress, tear, and sew, so I gave in.

Boating Fun

Where's a scene challenge when you need one? I said recently I didn't feel I was that proficient at scene stamping, but this little sailboat race turned out pretty cool.(I think) I figured out where I wanted the horizon then stamped the boat in front, masked it off and stamped the boat behind. I used my PrismaColor Pencils and Sansodor Solvent to do the sea and sky, after you color in your colors take your blending stump and go over the whole thing in small circle motions to blend all together, then laid in the red on the boats and blended them the same way. They are so small all I had to do was kind of pat to blend. I'm pretty much a terra firma girl, but this boating expedition looks kind of inviting.

Red, White, & Blue

Celebrating the blessings of a lot of freedoms the majority of people on this planet do not enjoy. My Father was in the Air Force, my husband the Navy, my oldest son the Army, all in times of war. A high price is paid in peoples lives to ensure that the rest of us are able to continue our everyday lives in relative safety and contentment. Please take the time to thank a veteran, active duty person, or a military family if you have the opportunity. Happy and Safe 4th of July weekend.

Season's Greetings

I have to a little bit of clapping today before I tell you about this card. I discovered today that I was chosen in the Top 5 at Stamping 411 for my Follow Your Heart card. The ladies at Stamping 411 are some very talented artists, so this is a big honor to catch their eye and make the Top 5. Thank You Ladies!
When I saw the Less Is More challenge at Bah! Humbug! and the sketch at Just Add Ink, then to top it off the Christmas in July at Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge my mind went immediately to the this stamp and papers that were Hobby Lobby's Christmas specials last year. I think the black, red, and cream combination is so striking. I don't know if you can tell in the photo, but I heat embossed the tree and added just the little bit of sewing around the edges just to frame it out. Wah-Lah-Less Is More made an easy but elegant Christmas card.

HBD Fries Box

This day didn't turn out anything like I had it planned, so it's a good thing my life's training has prepared me to remain flexible and unless God comes to take me home(I think I'm to onry for that just yet) there is tomorrow to begin anew.
This is what Project Tuesday called a Fries Box. I decided to combine it with Kelly Jo's Color Chef Challenge-Brown, Green, White, and make a cute little birthday favor box out of it. I just haven't decided what to put in it yet.

Follow Your Heart

Happy July 1st! As we enter the 7th month of 2010 I know some of us have had our ups and downs and when I'm experiencing some of those downs I can always hear my Grandmother's voice saying,"Beverly, stiffen your backbone, chin up, and keep stepping forward." Somehow when I start putting one foot in front of the other and going forward I realize that my downs seem to be becoming ups, maybe not as quickly as I would like, but a little progress is better than none.
That's why I chose this stamp, if you're following your heart you can't be going backward.
