Stocking Charm

Today has really been a tussle. I had to figure out how to get my printer working on my laptop. I actually figured that out by myself. Got this card made and thought I had some software in my computer to tend to my photos, but I guess I was just to used to the program I had been using, so finally went to Hubby's Office and found that software, loaded that myself. Who knew I could actually figure this computer stuff out, but very nerve racking for a newbie.
On top of everything else, this is my 500th Post since I started my blog. Check back in a couple of days, I'll be posting some blog candy.
Onto the card for this week's Bah! Humbug! Challenge, Charms...
We could make our own, or dig in our stash, naturally after digging in my stash I discovered I don't have any Christmas charms except for snowflakes and I've kind of done enough of those lately. I made my own stocking charm, by stamping with gold ink, clear embossing powder, and cutting it out. It was just the right size to fit my card. I'm going to try to squeeze this in on CCEE Stampers Sketch challenge also.
  2 Challenge:
Supplies: Cream Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: My Mind's Eye-Signature Christmas Holiday Glitter Book, Stampin Up-Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Stamps: Recollections-Merry Merry, Ink: Stampin Up-Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Encore-Gold, Stampin Up-clear embossing powder, Sakura Gelly Roll Pen-Gold, ribbon-Michael's, Fancy Pants Designs-transparent die cut label template, pop dots.

Shells For Sale/TMS Guest Spot

A Great Good Morning to everyone. Before I get into my post about this very cute card I have to update you on my computer situation. After some phone calls and great news that my laptop was still under warranty, it has become like new fresh out of the box without any leg work and without having to send it off for repair. I'm becoming much more computer savvy. Of course, there usually is bad news with the good news and this time is no different, my main desk top computer has crashed also. Fortunately, we have not lost all our data because we have an extra drive on it, and since it is an older model hubby says he's shopping for a new one. Thank goodness for my laptop. Now onto the fun stuff this morning.
The last Tuesday in August and my final week Guesting on Tuesday Morning Sketches. It has really been fun working with Melissa and her team and she has had some really great sponsors for us this month and today is no exception in that department either. Our Sponsor this week is Robyn of Robyn's Fetish. Click on the link, scroll down and click on shop or browse the site at your leisure. Robyn has quite a collection of digis for your digi stamping fun. I hope you all come over and join in the challenge this week. Melissa has another great sketch:
With the sketch and my card above and all the team members great cards we have given you some inspiration and a jumping off point..
I had a lot of fun sponging the sand on with 3 colors of ink, and lightly sponging in the sky and I do mean lightly, then coloring the rest with my Copic markers. I love the way the colorless blender lifted the color to make the dots on her swim suit. She reminded me of my sister when she was little, not only in looks, but she loved and still loves the beach and swimming. Since, today is her birthday, a duplicate card already went off to her in the mail.
Break out all those papers you've been hoarding and some ink and stamps, don't forget the embellies, we're all  looking forward to seeing your creations as the week unfolds.

Two Takes On One Sketch/Guest Spot TMS#55

A Great Good Morning Everyone! This morning I'm revealing this great sketch by Melissa at Tuesday Morning Sketches and our sponsor for this week Bella Digi Studio. Daphne has generously provided the team with this cute Pumpkin Bear image to whet our appetites for some fall or Halloween cards and a variety of other digis.  She has a good mix of digis to chose from if you'd like to hop over and add to your collection.
First, I have the card I made with Pumpkin Bear. As I started pulling papers and supplies to put this card together it really made me start looking forward to some cooler fall air, but alas, I think we've got awhile here in TX before that happens.
I did a little distressing, colored the image with Copic markers, learned that it's very hard to stamp on this glittered embossed paper, so my vine at the bottom didn't turn out very well, and upon reflection I wish I had added some little gold stars to his hat for just a touch of magic.
Maybe this card will get your mojo jumped started today to come over and join in the challenge this week.
Ahh, but if you're not in the mood for Halloween, I have another take on this sketch for you.
As you can see, a more elegant card this time. I had this great set of stamps from Hero Arts that just begged to be showcased in this main oval focal point. Some pretty background paper, some rhinestone flourishes, pretty sparkly velvet ribbon, and a stamp and Wah Lah ,you've got yourself a very unique card for a special person.
We want you all to participate this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches for fun, of course, but also this week is the judged challenge and if you're like me you can't resist the extra rush of competition. We're looking forward to seeing all your wonderful creations.Good Luck!

HB Flap Card/Blog Candy Winner

First things first this evening. I need to apologize for being so late in posting the winner of my reaching 51 followers. Between general living and some laptop computer problems, my resident computer geek and my random generator are one and the same. We were finally able to pick the winner last night and she is Annette from Netty's Craftings. I call Annette an artist first and then a card maker, she has created some phenomenal projects lately. Be sure to hop over and check her out for some wonderful inspiration. Annette be sure to email me granybg@yahoo.com with your snail mail address so I can get your package off to you.
Don't despair girls there will be some more blog candy in the near future and I won't make the puzzle as hard next time. I'm approaching 500 posts and then when I hit 75 followers there will be blog candy for that.
Now on to my card. Mine is a little different than the instructions on Splitcoast Stampers, but I had this green card stock already folded. Waste not, want not.
This also happens to be for a new challenge blog: Let's Ink It Up
and what a coincidence Annette just happens to be on their design team. All my followers are such talented people, I'm continually trying to strive to keep up to their standards.

Autumn Greetings/Raise The Bar Guest Spot

Good Morning Everyone! Hope everyone's ready for a great weekend. Today I'm in the spotlight at Raise The Bar. Joni was kind enough to pick me for one of the guest designers for Challenge #32. It's a great sketch. As soon as I opened the email of the sketch this big flower flashed before my eyes and I was able to go right to my studio and start pulling supplies to get started on my card. It's so much fun when ideas and supplies all fall into place right away and then when you have finished your card or project and you can say, "Wow, that's just how I envisioned it."
I hope you will all hop over to Raise The Bar this week and join in on the challenge. There are so many great possibilities with this sketch and we'd love to see what you all come up with. The rest of the design team have come up with some great cards so be sure to visit their blogs and leave them some love and I'll bet you get some inspiration if you don't already have an idea percolating. Ahh, time for that first morning cuppa and get going on your entries.
I'm also going to enter this in the Just For Fun Challenge #25-The colors are orange, olive, rust. Kind of just perfect, huh?
Be sure to check back later this evening we'll be drawing for the blog candy that I posted earlier in the week. The right answer to the puzzle was that I updated my profile picture with my new short haircut.

TMS-Technique/Diagonal Pocket Card

A Great Good Morning to you all! Grab your cups of coffee(ahh, is that a pun?) and get ready for a great challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches. This is my 3rd week as Guest Designer and I've been having lots of fun with Melissa and her team.  Melissa has a technique challenge for us this week and a wonderful sponsor Paper Pretties. If you're not familiar with Paper Pretties hop over for a browse around. There are some really cute digis and lots of other neat stuff to wet your supply whistles.
As you can see by the title of my post the technique today is a diagonal pocket card. You can find the instructions and a video on Splitcoast Stampers. They are probably the premier go to place for instructions on all kinds of different techniques.
Paper Pretties generously let our DT pick out some digis to work with this week. I couldn't resist these cute birdhouse cups and birdie residents. I broke out my PrismaColor Pencils and Sansodor Low Odour Solvent(just like gamsol) because I wanted to keep a soft feel to the image to go along with the softness of the color palette I chose. Be sure to pick a double sided piece of paper that you really like because the way you fold it both sides are revealed, I thought that was pretty cool. I found these soft funky fibers in my stash that just matched my color scheme and the little mini blue brads were the last little touch that just finishes things off.
Hope my card inspires you to hop over to Tuesday Morning Sketches this week and give this challenge a try, but, if I haven't completely convinced you hop over and check out the other DT members cards and by the time you have left them some love on their blogs I'm sure you will have decided to jump in on this fun challenge.

Supplies: Link for card instructions above, Papers: Chatterbos Inc-Olive Garden Plaid, Stampin Up-Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery, Pink Pirouette, Stamps: Paper Pretties digi-Brew Your Coffee, TPC Studio-Coffee Cafe, Stampin Up-Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Ink: Stampin Up-Marina Mist, Blushing Bride, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, Stampin Up marker- Soft Suede, PrismaColor Pencils, Sansodor Low Odour Solvent, Stampin Up-Scallop Trim corner and border punch, Crop-A-Dile, Jo-Ann's white eyelets, Fibers-CTMH-pink and green, brown unknown, mini brads unknown.

Lazy Afternoon

I've got a little teaser for you guys tonight. I've had over 10,000 visitors now and I changed something in my profile picture. Kind of like one of those puzzles, What's wrong with this picture? I'm still going to giveaway blog candy when I hit 50 followers, but I decided to draw for some this week also. Leave me a comment about what's different in my picture and I'll have hubby make up a draw hat with your names and he'll impartially draw a winner on 8-20-10. I've got this cute CTMH Celebrations stamp set up for grabs.
A little clapping before I get to my card. I won a Top 3 at Raise The Bar Challenge  for my Peace Window card and my prize is a guest spot for next Fridays challenge. So be sure to check back on 8-20-10 to see what I come up with.
When I saw Susan's challenge at 52-Card Pickup was about Solitude this week this is the stamp that immediately came to mind. Who wouldn't like a nice leisurely afternoon under a tree, reading, contemplating, or napping?

Sick Little Bear

I was so glad that I had already purchased some of Meljen's Designs when I saw at Card Patterns that they were sponsoring. I could always stand to win some more though. She's got such a good variety.
I couldn't resist using the Sick Little Bear for this sketch and he's in such a Blue and Green funk and that's the August challenge at Whoopsie Daisy Challenge.
I have an apology, I made the paper behind the green scallop, but I failed to write down the reinkers I used. It's that ink, spray, and smash technique and on this piece when it was still wet I sprinkled some salt over it. It worked perfect with the new colors from Stampin Up, Marina Mist and Pear Pizzazz. I also love how you can leave the Spellbinder die on and lightly sponge to create a neat shadow, really sets things off.
2 Challenges:
Supplies: White Card Blank 5 1/2" square, Papers: Stampin Up-Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, Glossy card stock, Stamps: Meljen's Designs-sick little bear digi, Stampin Up-I{Heart}Hearts, Word Play, Ink: Stampin Up-Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Stampin Up markers and blender pen-Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz, Poppy Parade, Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip, Fiskars shape cutting template-Circles-1, Spellbinders Nestabilities-Classic Scallop Circle Lg., Standard Circles Lg., Fiskars Scallop Sentiment border punch, Stampin Up-Heart to Heart punch, Dew Drops, pop dots.

What's The Latest Dirt?

A Great Good Morning to all. Hope you are all up for a great challenge this week. Melissa at Tuesday Morning Sketches has created a wonderful sketch for us to sink our teeth into and Deedee's Digis has provided the team with some neat digis to play with. Don't hesitate to hop over to Deedee's place and browse around after you take a look at the great cards the team has created for your inspiration.
Here is my card above and Melissa's sketch:
The only tweaking I did to the sketch this time was instead of an oval for the sentiment I used a set of stamps that coordinate with Stampin Up's Curly Label punch and made the sentiment fit into the small oval punch, which allowed me to pop it up just a little for some added punch.  That's the neat thing I'm learning about digi stamps, you can resize them, flip them, do all kinds of things with them as you get used playing around in whatever program you open them in.
I used some pretty designer paper and yes, there's Martha's zigzag border punch again. I think the dirt turned out kind of neat, I used Copic markers for all the coloring and then I took some chalk and dabbed and rubbed to give the dirt a softer look. I couldn't resist paper piecing the gloves, it really makes them look like they are laying on top of the ground, I really liked that added dimension. Finished it off with the 3 cute little flower brads and Wah Lah! a wonderful card to send off to a friend you haven't chatted with for awhile.
Thanks for stopping by, look forward to your comments(you know what a comment hog I am) and don't forget to stop by our talented team members blogs and leave them some love also.

Supplies: White Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, DCWV Whimsy Stack, Dear Lizzy & Am. Cowboy In Training

I've been in the grip of general living for the last 2 days. I finally grabbed some time in my studio off and on today and got this cute combo project finished. Before I go into details I want to do a little bit of clapping first. At The Paper Players I won the Headliner Badge for my vintage card Enjoy The Journey, since I don't feel I do vintage very well this is a tremendous win for me. Thank You so much ladies, and if you all haven't checked out The Paper Players hop over and add them to your challenge schedule, I bet you'll have some fun. Oh, Yes, don't forget to come back in the morning for my second week as Guest Designer at Tuesday Morning Sketches another great challenge blog with lots of talented ladies to glean inspiration from.
Now, on to the details on my combo project. Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges is having a really fun blog hop with some digi stamps up for grabs. This little cowboy in training on my card is a WOC digi. I'm finally feeling more comfortable with digis and if you're not familiar with them they are very affordable, easy to store(on your computer), and very fun to color. A lot of the digi companies give instructions on how to download them, so don't be afraid to jump in the digi water and take the plunge.
After you do the hop, the challenge this week is to create a card and a project to go with it. I chose to make a corner bookmark that I got the instructions for from Splitcoast Stampers. Once you get to their site just click on resources and it will take you to an array of projects.
I think you have until Friday to join in on the hop and challenge, hop on over for some rip roaring fun.
I'm actually entering this in 2 Challenges and I have to give some kudos to the girls at "Just Us Girls" Challenge . I've been playing in their challenges for awhile now and each week of the month they have a different kind of challenge. Keeps things very fresh and interesting, I think. I'm using their sketch for my card.
I've given you links to some fun challenges, so if you didn't know about them be sure to check them out if you like a good challenge!

Supplies: Cream card blank 4" X 5 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: AdornIt-Old West Collection, Stampin Up-Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, River Rock, Stamps: WOC digi, CTMH-C1306 Genuine Country, Ink: Stampin Up-Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Ranger Distress Ink-antique linen, PrismaColor Premier-Dark Umber, Copic markers-B000, B95, B00, YG03, E00, E37, YR61, W-1, C-1, E35, E13, R02, YR14, Y32, E51, Colorless Blender, Stampin Up-Hodgepodge Hardware, Martha Stewart zigzag border punch, ribbon-Hobby Lobby, sewing machine, pop dots.

With Thoughts of You

2 Challenges:
I created the background paper on glossy card stock with dye reinkers, and guess what I discovered I forgot to write down the colors. I did a couple of test pieces to see if I could remember, but the closest I got was Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss, couldn't recreate the pink. This technique is called Ink, Spritz, Smash. I did those things and even dragged a little. Each piece of paper you make using this technique comes out different. You get lots of inky fingers if you're messy like me.
I'm so glad Linda, The Funkie Junkie kept inspiring me til I pulled out my sewing machine because I don't think this card would have been as striking without the sewing.
Supplies: Black Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-glossy card stock, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Basic Grey-Scarlet's Letter, Stamp: Inkadinkado-98841 Fancy That, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Stampin Up-Cherry Cobbler, Flower brad and parts-Oriental Trading Co. and Stampin Up-filigre brads, ribbon-Michael's, sewing machine, glue dots, pop dots.

Jiggy With Flowers

In looking for a fancy fold card I came across a web site with lots of neat stuff, hence, the title:
Inspirational, Tips, Techniques, and Tutorials
I found this 3 Way Fold Card Tutorial, which I thought fit perfect with Jiggy the Dragon. This is a digi from Stamping Dragon Designs ,she generously provided this digi free for the challenge at I Did It Creations Challenge Blog. Under the two Prima Flowers in Jiggy's hands are flowers to color, I just chose to make that area pop a little more. I got the fancy fold going and the free digi, the colors I got from Just For Fun, and the oval Bloom Where You Are Planted is a digi from Deedee's Digi's and that fits in with the challenge at a new to me challenge blog-Digital Tuesday Challenge which is to use 2 digis from 2 different companies on one card.
This card was easy to make. I think the hardest part for anyone would be deciding how to decorate it . Check out all these blogs for some great challenge fun.
3 Challenges:
Supplies: Instructions for card link found above, Papers: DCWV-The Whimsy Stack, Stampin Up-Whisper White, brown, orange, green cardstock unknown, Stamp: Stamping Dragon Designs-Jiggy with Flowers, Deedee's Digis-Bloom Where You're Planted, Simply Chic Stamps, Ink: Stampin Up-Peach Parfait, Promarker-grass, Copic markers: YG03, G82, G21, YR61, R02, C-1, Colorless Blender, Bic MarkIt-Summer Melon, Stampin Up-metallic pencils, Sansodor Low Odour Solvent, ribbon-unknown, shaped bubbles-JoAnn's Scrap Essentials, PrimaFlowers, small flower brads-unknown.

Lots of Love Bear-TMS Guest Designer

A Great Good Morning to everyone. It's time for another sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Melissa has created another great sketch for us to work with this week and snagged a great sponsor, Lexi's Doodles. Lexi has generously let the design team and since I get to be the guest designer for August we all got to choose an image to work with and as you can see after browsing around her good mix of images and sentiments I chose the Lots of Love Bear. I just can't pass up hearts.

As you can see I did a little tweaking of the sketch to stick with the heart theme. You can tweak also, flip it , change the shapes, but just be sure we can still see the basic design of the sketch.
When I printed out this little bear on his cloud of hearts they whispered in my ear "paper piece me". This pad of K&Co. paper immediately came to mind. We're often asked how we come up with our ideas for our cards and projects. I think we all carry mental pictures of our studios in our minds and that means all our supplies too, so when all the mojo is working just right, we are just able to say, "Ahh, I know what will work for this project."
So, ladies and gentlemen, hop over to Tuesday Morning Sketches and check out what the rest of the design team has come up with to get your personal mojo inspired and enter the challenge this week. You might be the lucky winner of some really neat digis from Lexi's Doodles.

Supplies: White Card Blank 5 1/2" X  6" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Rose Red, K&Co. Enjoy The Journey

This card is for 5 Challenges so I started out with several premises in my mind. I'm not usually a big fan of Toile fabric or paper, but this pattern from The Paper Studio really caught my eye. I guess it's the soft sages, sepias, and cherries that are pleasing to my eye. I used some of the new Log Cabin Smooch Spritz on the fern leaves for just a very subtle little bit of sparkle. I used 2 Martha Stewart punches: fern, and lacy border.  I stamped the sentiment with sepia and clear embossed it for a nice pop. All in all, I think this is one of the prettiest vintage cards I have made so far and I can almost hear a little anniversary conversation as the couple takes an evening stroll through this lovely grove.
Supplies: Card Blank 5 1/4" X 7 1/4" The Paper Company, Papers: The Paper Studio-Mirabella, Stampin Up-Very Vanilla, Stamp: Pink Paislee-365 Degrees, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Sepia, Stampin Up clear embossing powder, Martha Stewart punches: fern, lacy border punch, Stampin Up-Log Cabin Smooch Spritz, flower unknown, Tim Holtz distress tool, sewing machine, pop dots.

Happy Alligator

I've posted two very simple cards today, but what you haven't seen yet are my cards for my Guest Designer spot on Tuesday Morning Sketches. Be sure to check back on Tuesday for their new challenge and my debut. It's going to be a fun month because we've got 5 weeks this month, so I get an extra week of fame.
It can't get much easier when the piece of designer paper looks almost like the sketch and is all you have to do is stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment. My grandson loves alligators so this will be perfect for his birthday card.
3 Challenges:
Supplies: 3 3/4" X 8" Card Blank, Papers: Stampin Up-Baja Breeze, DCWV-Safari Kids Stack, Stamp: CTMH-C1257 Happy Birthday, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black.
