Sparkly Stars Christmas

I'm finally getting to post a card. Yay!!
First, I'd like to say every one has been so nice helping me replace the digis I lost. You hear so many stories of people getting ripped off and scamed these days that we forget how many truly nice people are really out there. Thanks to all the kind and generous people I have worked with over the last couple of weeks.
Thanks to the ladies at Bah! Humbug!, when I signed up for their loyalty challenge I didn't realize how much that would help me stay on track during all the ups and downs I have been experiencing. I must also give credit today to my loyal friend Linda(she's also my Stampin Up demonstrator), we don't see each other very often, but we do chat on the phone, she has also been keeping my spirits up and contributed to some of the idea for this card. What would we do without good friends?
Now onto the challenges I am entering this card in: 3 Challenges:
Supplies: Red Card Blank 4" X 5 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Whisper White, Garden Green, Stamps: sentiment-Squigglefly digi, CTMH-D1333 Wishing Star, Will 'n Way-Whimsy Borders, Ink: Stampin Up-Pear Pizzazz, Riding Hood Red, The Paper Studio Spare Pars-mini star brads, ribbon-Offray.

Heads Up To Loyal Followers

No cards for a few days, but wanted to let all my loyal followers know I haven't fallen off the edge of the earth, yet.
I have had a few weeks of computer issues. Every time I think I've solved one problem another has cropped up. Won't go into a lot more details, but the latest was I lost all my digi stamps that I have won and purchased. I have been able to retrieve some of  them so that's been a good thing.
Hubby has gone back to work from a week's vacation, even though we didn't travel anywhere it has been a roller coaster week. The next 2 days are going to be taken up with Dr. appointments for my Mom and myself(just check ups and med refills) nothing serious, just time consuming.
I now have 4 places to save all my important computer stuff instead of 1, so maybe this will prevent anymore mishaps.
Keeping a positive attitude, moving onward and upward, I will get back to card challenges and I am going to be working on getting another packet ready to mail off for consideration to be published again.
Hope to be back by the end of the week. Thanks again Loyal Followers for all your wonderful comments.

Grandmother's Christmas

This week at Bah! Humbug! was another stumper for me. This seemed like a good idea at the time and I made a valiant attempt. The log cabin is a Robyn's Fetish digi stamp, colored with PrismaColor Pencils and dabbed with Liquid Applique for the snow. I stamped the woodgrain stamp onto Close To Cocoa card stock and hand cut the frame. The first lines of the song I printed onto acetate, mounted onto the back of the frame and popped up with dimensionals. I really thought the words would show up more, but it's kind of cute in person.
So far I don't think I've missed a week since I signed up for the Loyalty part of the challenge and it's really hard to believe that in a few days it will be Oct.
1 Challenge:
Supplies: White Card Blank 4" X 5 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Close To Cocoa, Whisper White, Me & My Big Ideas, Grafix Transparency Sheet, Stamps: Stampin Up-Woodgrain, Robyn's Fetish digi, sentiment created in Open Office, Ink: Stampin Up-Early Expresso, CTMH-Z2116 Cranberry, PrismaColor Pencils, Sansodor Low Odour Solvent, Marvy Liquid Applique-White, ribbon-Offray, Fiskars Shape cutter template-Frames-1, Stampin Up dimensionals.

Treat Coffin and Basket/Stampin' Royalty Guest Spot

I've been anticipating this day, I was picked for a guest designer spot at Stampin' Royalty and have had my assignment for awhile now, so it gave me plenty of time to come up with something really good and I'm very proud of the outcome.
The challenge at Stampin' Royalty this week is: Anything But A Card
With fall approaching and one of the favorite holidays of the year-Halloween, I decided that would be my project for this challenge.
Back in August Project Tuesday had a week that was to make a Treat Box. I clicked on the link to Splitcoast Stampers and found the instructions(always good), but it looks like a Treat Basket to me. Oh well, it seemed perfect for the Halloween papers I used and I think it would make a really cute center piece for any Halloween party. I'll give you a hint--one 12" x 12" piece of paper makes the basic basket(box). There are some very clever artisans sharing their wonderful talents with us.
Speaking of which, on to the other project in the photo. A friend of mine put me onto Janine Tinklenberg's blog, be sure to click on her name and go for a wonderful browse, a very talented lady. I found her very cute Coffin Treat Box and low and behold she has generously shared a template for it. Consequently, I CASED her project because again it was perfect for my assignment for this week's challenge.
I hope you'll all be inspired to go over to Stampin' Royalty and join in on this week's challenge for some fun. Don't forget to visit the for real Design Team members blogs for extra added inspiration. They are a great group of ladies and I always enjoy playing in their challenges. This week Anything But A Card will get you all to play outside your normal comfort zone of cards and create something a little different.
Before I leave you this morning I just have to do a little clapping, yes, that would be for myself. Not only did I get this great guest spot this morning, but over at The Color Dare, Riley and her team chose my Flowery Wishes card to be featured this week. A great big hug and Thanks to The Color Dare.
Next, a big drum roll, clapping--I got published again!!! In Just Cards! Volume 19, Fall 2010---This time they added a new section called Interior Cards, so the front and inside of my card got in the magazine. I know you can't tell how excited I am, so I'll try to come down to earth and get busy making a new packet of cards to send off for future publication and get back to all my favorite challenges.

Supplies for the above projects: Papers: Stampin Up-Designer Series Paper Cast a Spell, Lavender Lace, Tangerine Tango, Dusty Durango, Certainly Celery, Ink: Stampin Up-Early Expresso, Elegant Eggplant, Stamps: Stampin Up-Eat, Drink, and Be Scary, Twick or Tweet, Cuttlebug die-Ornamental, Stampin Up Textured Impressions Square Lattice folder, Crop-A-Dile, eyelets unknown, Stampin Up-Lg. Count Your Blessings

I've been piddling around with this one card all day and now that it's finished and photographed the stripped paper looks blue instead of purple like it does when it's in my hand. Purples, blues, and reds seem to give the most lighting issues for me.
The digi is from Shirley's 2 Girls and the poem is from Quote Garden. I usually find lots of good quotes, poems, and sayings from there.
2 Challenges:
Supplies: Cream Card Blank 5" X 7" The Paper Company, Papers: Stampin Up-Peach Parfait, Whisper White, Dusty Durango, Paper Pizazz, Colorbok, Creative Imaginations, Stamps: digi-Shirley's 2 Girls, Will 'n Way-Autumn Leaves, Ink: Color Box Fluid Chalk Ink, Stampin Up-Dusty Durango, Copic Markers, Spellbinders Nestabilities-Labels Two, Stampin Up-Glimmer Brads, ribbon unknown, sewing machine, copper sewing thread, Stampin Up dimensionals.

Flower Special BD

A couple of days ago I entered the Crafty Cardmakers Challenge and I didn't read the challenge instructions or I didn't retain them and I entered the wrong interpretation of the challenge. I looked again and there is still time to enter, so I'm going to give it another shot and add a couple of challenges.
The challenge at Crafty Cardmakers is to use Alcohol Inks. The 4 panels on my card are alcohol inks on glossy card stock. The problem is I didn't write down what colors I used and this was a third pressing of glossy card together, using alcohol blending solution in between, each time the inks got lighter, then I know I sprayed the piece with Stampin Up-gold smooch spray. I'm going to have to start making my list of colors before I get busy squirting them on the non-stick craft sheet and swirling, smooshing and mashing, trying to get something I'm happy with. Each time you do this technique no matter what colors you use it always comes out different, so you just kind of have to pick what colors you like and get inky.
I also need to tell you about the flower on my card. When I went to The Funkie Junkie's site to make sure I had the right link for my previous post, her most recent card caught my eye and I just had to click on the link that showed how she made her gorgeous flower.
I must give Creations With Christina lots of kudos here. She made 2 great videos so if you are interested please click on her name and after you watch her videos there's no reason you can't make some beautiful flowers of your own. I used a scrap of patterned paper because it had the same colors as my alcohol background and inked it up with some Old Paper and Antique Linen distress ink, used a flat back pearl from Stampin Up Pretties Kit, glossy accents and Stampin Up Dazzling Diamonds glitter because I already had all this stuff in my studio. I was very pleased with my effort.
Okey Dokey,2 Challenges:
Supplies: Cream Card Blank 4" X 5 1/2" American Crafts, Papers: Stampin Up-Old Olive, glossy card stock, Fancy Pants Designs-Truthful, Stamps: Stampin Up-Punched Posies, CTMH-C1257 Happy Birthday, Autumn Leaves-Flourishes by: Rhonna Farrer, Ink: Stampin Up-Old Olive, Brilliance-Galaxy Gold, Ranger Distress Ink-Antique Linen, Old Paper,  Stampin Up-Smoch Spritz gold Glow, Ranger Super Fine embossing powder, Stampin Up-Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Stampin Up Sizzlits Floral Fusion, Stampin Up-Lg. Fancy Flower Punch, Stampin Up Pretties Kit-flat back pearl, Tombow Multi-Purpose glue, Ranger Glossy Accents, glue dots.

Flowery Wishes

I'm starting today off with a card I've been mulling over for a couple of days. It all finally came together when I say that Linda-The Funkie Junkie came over and signed up as my newest follower. I'm dedicating this card to her today, I've been an admirer of hers for awhile now and she is the lady that inspired me to get out my sewing machine and start sewing on my cards. To me this card is a great example of how sewing can really kick up the finishing touches on a creation. I feel very honored that Linda has become my newest follower and I hope you'll click on her name above and check out her wonderful creations so you can be just as inspired as I have been.

Fall Acorns

Starting today there is a Special Challenge going on at Digi Doodle Shop's Best. They have offered 3 digis to choose one free, make your card or project, It's an Anything Goes challenge. If you use your free digi and enter a whole bunch of other challenges that go with your project there will be some fantastic prizes up for grabs at the end of the challenge. Don't miss out on this now, you get a chance to try out a free digi, in case you haven't tried them out yet, and free prizes also. What a DEAL!
Most of the challenges I will list are self-explanatory, but one of them called for the use of alcohol inks and I chose to interpret that using Copic markers which are alcohol ink and the spotlight technique. I also, love Stampin Up's new antique brads, they are very striking.
Good Luck, see if you can out distance my 6 Challenges:

The challenge is to use your favorite mediums to create your card. I went with the plural of mediums:
Snowflake embossing folder, metallic rub-ons, little bit of bling with the tiny rhinestones and some fine glitter, Spica glitter pens, Liquid Applique, and Copic markers.
Now, must go enter for tomorrow is a new challenge at Bah! Humbug! Come on over and check out all the great Christmas cards because it's getting to be that time of year when we need to be thinking about some fun Christmas plans.

It seems each time I use this little guy I do him up in blues and greens. I think there's a song, I'm Feeling Blue, but since I can't carry a tune maybe you can hum it. However, we are not fair weather friends, we're Wishing Him Well.
One of the DT members on one of these challenges that I'm entering used this technique of rolling the paper back, I thought it was so cute so I CASED it. He just looks like he might need an extra blankie.

Relax Bookmark

It's hard to believe I haven't posted since Wednesday. Time does fly when you're having fun.
I got to go to the Stampin Up Regional Convention in Ft. Worth, Tx. with my Stampin Up demonstrator, Linda, and I have to say we had a grand time. Some of the nicest people you would ever want to meet, and one of the best run conventions I've ever been to. Lots of great tips on running your business and lots of great tips on how to maximize the use of their products. The cherry on top of the cake for me was I won a heart stamp set at the end of the day, couldn't get much cooler than that.
I'm on a winning streak. I got home to find that I have been published  in Just Cards! Holidays! 2010 Volume 2 and I won a Top 5 badge over at Get Sketchy for my Monarch card. You know you can hear me--CLAPPING, CLAPPING, CLAPPING !!!
I keep telling my people if I don't post I don't win, so I need for all this general living to settle down for awhile so I can get back to creating and posting. Don't forget to check back on Sept.22nd for my guest spot on Stampin Royalty, I think I came up with something really special for your viewing pleasure.
Now on to today's first little project. I'm getting pretty good at these Corner Bookmarks. I just love how substantial they turn out. Really a nice little gift to slip in someones mail box, or an extra little something in a bigger gift.

Antsy For Reading

I just love these bookmarks that Beate Johns created and posted the instructions on Splitcoast Stampers. The instructions are easy to follow and when you are finished decorating you have a very substantial bookmark that fits very nicely on the corner of your book.
Doodle Pantry has these cute digis with the ants. She has created quite a few different scenarios with the ants, and I have fallen for them and have started collecting. I just saw this evening she has come up with some Christmas ants.
At Paper Sundaes this week they are challenging us to use Mixed Mediums-different kinds of mediums to color-so on this card you will find that I sponged the ground and sky with my dye ink pads, and colored the rest of the image with my Copic markers.
I also did a little bit of sewing and embossing with an edge Cuttlebug folder. I've had those for a long time, but just don't seem to pull them out like I should. It was perfect for the edge of this bookmark.
5 Challenges:
Supplies: Instructions from Splitcoast Stampers, Papers: Stampin Up-River Rock, Whisper White, Garden Green, Stamps: Doodle Pantry-Antsy For Reading, Ink: Stampin Up-Pear Pizzazz, Crushed Curry, Marina Mist, Copic markers, Cuttlebug embossing folder-Frills, Pressed Petals Chip Chatter-dk.green 2 1/2" letter, All My Memories-Red Rick Rack, sewing machine, Scor-Tape.

Oh, Christmas Tree

Getting a new computer sounds like a fun thing, and it is in some ways, but there is always a learning curve to new things. Since, I'm an older gal, I'm catching on, and it's a good thing that I'm always up for a good challenge.
I actually got a card made and saved onto my extra drive. Thank goodness my hubby bought and taught me how to save all my important things to this extra drive or I would have been up the creek without a paddle.
2 Challenges:
Supplies: Cream Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: The Paper Studio A Heartwarming Holiday Paper Pack, Stampin Up-Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Stamps- Stampin Up-Fun & Fast Notes, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Ink: Stampin Up-Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz, Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Sakura Gelly Roll Pen-Clear Star, Jolee's boutique-christmas lights sticker, pop dots.

Letters Home

My goodness, another day of tussles, but I did manage to get this card made and if I keep this pretty short I will even get it posted before midnight.
This is the free digi for the challenge at I Did It Creations Challenge Blog.  Robyn, Jeanette, and all their design team and stamp designers are always very generous with a free stamp each week and you get extra points if you win for using the freebie. You'd be hard pressed to find a nicer bunch of gals than that. You may just barely have time tomorrow to still get in on the challenge.
When I downloaded this stamp and printed her, she said,"Beverly, get out that Mirabelle Paper Pack." So, I went right to my stash and sure enough these were the perfect papers. I printed her again on the flower paper and pieced her dress on, then colored the rest with my Copic markers. I colored the brads with one of my Bic MarkIt pens to match, and finished it off with the script stamp and the stamp for the sentiment. I kept trying to fit some lace or ribbon on here, but I decided I like it just like it is.
1 Challenge:
Supplies: Cream Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: The Paper Studio-Mirabelle Paper Pack, Stampin Up-Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Stamps-digi-Stitchy Stamps, Inkadinkado-Script stamp, Stampin Up-Whimsical Words, Inks: Stampin Up-Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, Distress Ink-old paper, Copic markers, Bic MarkIt markers, Spellbinders Nestabilities-Labels Two, mini flower brads-The Paper Studio Spare Parts, pop dots.
