Gratitude

I've got several things going on with this card today. My friend Linda, The Funkie Junkie, uses this seam binding that she dyes herself to match what she's got going on. She was very generous to send me a beautiful card and a couple of samples so I could see in person and she tells on her blog how she dyes this and how she ties her bows. She's such a lovely talented and generous lady. Hop over to her place, you can learn a few tricks from her. She's the one who got me to pull out the old sewing machine and she was right, once you start sewing on your cards you can't seem to quit.
So, I've got the seam binding bow, some sewing with gold metallic thread, a couple of different die cuts, 3 if you count the plain circle, tucked under the ribbon is a border punch,  this beautiful paper, and last but not least the wonderful sentiment stamp.

Thinking of You Bouquet

Some days your mind is just filled with good ideas. Then some days you get spurred on by good news. So, I have to a little bit of clapping here this evening. I won a first place at Paper Sundaes and I have won a first place at Blackleaf Studios. I've been playing at Paper Sundaes for awhile and am fairly new at Blackleaf, but it is an honor to win at both places. Thanks to both challenge blogs for featuring my cards and the neat prizes. When I use the prizes I will be sure to say that I won them and where.

Christmas Elegance

The ladies at Bah! Humbug! continue to come up with exciting challenges and they say they're going to start all over again in the new year. Yay! I have lots of cards for friends and relatives and I now have enough that I've been able to send off to Operation Write Home. I know when my son was in Iraq and Somalia he really enjoyed the care packages and cards his unit received from friends and family.
Here's this beautiful paper pack again from My Mind's Eye and Inkadinkado just keeps coming up with more and more stamps that I can't seem to pass up for my growing collection. This was the last piece of green and gold ribbon off this roll, I don't know what I will do now if I can't find anymore, it has seemed to be a go to ribbon for me this year.

Batty For You

When I first heard and read about digi stamps I didn't think I would use them, but now that I have gotten the basic usage down I have even been venturing a little bit farther with them. Like this batty bird, I printed on the designer paper and colored him with Copic Markers, because they are more translucent you can still see the checks on the paper,  then I sized the sentiment to fit in the hardware, really cool.
I was happy to see my background mat photoed purple, but my jewels on the side that look blue are purple also.
2 Challenges:
Supplies: Black Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Elegant Eggplant, Debbie Mumm Harvest & Holiday mat stack, Stamp: digi stamp-Doodle Pantry-Batty Bird and sentiment, Ink: Stampin Up-Elegant Eggplant, Daffodil Delight, Copic Markers, Sakura Gelly Roll Pen-White, Stampin Up-Designer Label punch, Stampin Up-Hodgepodge Hardware colored with black Sharpie marker, all jewel stickers unknown, ribbon-Offray.

Follow Through

Good Afternoon!
This is the card I  have chosen to interpret Susan's challenge at 52-Card Pickup--Follow Through.
When life gets so busy and we find ourselves overwhelmed with commitments that we don't even remember making, sometimes it's best to take a breath or two and listen to that quiet voice inside that is hope. As I've probably said before, "Keep Steppin' ".
Today I used a technique that I haven't done before. The small butterfly was stamped with the Rock 'n Roll technique. I inked up with the pink then rolled the edges on the purple ink pad and then stamped on the card, gives it just the extra little dimension without a lot of effort.
1 Challenge:
Supplies: White Card Blank 4" X 5 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Stamp: Stampin Up-Flight of the Butterfly, Ink: Stampin Up-Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry, Stampin Up marker-Rich Razzleberry, Sakura Gelly Roll Pen-Clear Star, Spica glitter pen-pink, Spellbinders Nestabilities-Labels Four, pink crystal stickers unknown, ribbon-Offray, glue dot.

I'm doing a speed post on this card because I want to squeeze it into the Get Sketchy challenge--this is their sketch and it worked out perfect for my take on these 3 Challenges:

Fairy Dust Christmas

I've been working on this card in between loads of laundry. With this beautiful paper and this free set of fairy stamps I got when I picked up the October 2010 issue of Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine it turned out with a kind of vintagey feel to it. I really like my white Liquid Applique for snow, but it seemed a little hard for this card, so I must find some white Flower Soft for a softer snow and fur look.
4 Challenges:
Supplies: Cream Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" The Paper Studio, Papers: Stampin Up-Very Vanilla, Deck The Halls Designer Series Paper, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Stamps: Fairy Stamps-Cardmaking & Papercraft, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Sepia, Copic Markers, Sharpie Poster Paint Pen-gold, Sakura Gelly Roll Pen-gold & Clear Star, Stampin Up-ticket punch, Scallop Trim corner & border punch, Michael Richard's metal gold dots, ribbon-Michael's.

Falling Leaves

One last project for you tonight.
I found Tiffany Doodles quite by chance, I believe she has a once a month challenge. She offered a free digi and her October theme is Fall. How can you pass up a freebie? The leaf with the flourishes is her digi. I turned it on it's side, colored it with Stampin Up marker and the flourishes with a copper pigment marker, sponged around then stamped the sentiment with gold ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.
I just love that fall leaves paper and this was the perfect sketch to use it one.
I've had a very productive fun day in my studio, it's been awhile since I've gotten so much accomplished in one day. Needless to say I'm a little pooped, so I'll sign off for tonight.
3 Challenges:
Supplies: Tan Card Blank 5 1/4" X 7 1/4" The Paper Company, Papers: Stampin Up-Very Vanilla, Lavender Lace, Tangerine Tango, Close To Cocoa, Cloud 9 Design-Harvest Holiday Glitter Mat Stack, Stamps: digi-Tiffany Doodles, Inkadinkado-98549 Autumn Foliage, Inks: Stampin Up-Old Olive, Brilliance Archival-Cosmic Copper, Galaxy Gold, Stampin Up marker-Old Olive, Elmer's Copper Leafing Pen, Sakura Copper pigment marker, CTMH gold embossing powder, Studio 18-rhinestones, pop dots.

Here's another project a little out of my realm. Pink and Brown, with lots of glitter on her dress, shoes, and in her hair. Pink jewels, pink fuzzy paper, pink velvety ribbon, wow, I'm on pink overload.

Gothic Arches

Wow, did I have fun making this today. I went to see what Gingersnap Creations Challenge was this week. They are a very Arty bunch of gals over there, so I wasn't sure if I could measure up, but after I looked at some free clip art, I picked the main image.
Before I start sharing how I did this I want to leave you a link to Netty's Craftings. Annette always comes and leaves me encouraging and admiring comments even though our styles are quite different. She says she loves to take old cereal boxes and jazz them up. Usually, when I look at an old cereal box that's exactly what it looks like to me, but she has inspired me to stretch my wings and I think today I have created something very arty from an old cereal box, that I hope will make her proud of a long distance student.
I printed the picture on copy paper, wadded it up before it was dry to get lots of crinkles, cut the middle piece to fit the arch exactly, the two sides were a little thin, glued them  to the 2 1/2" X 4 1/4" arches made from the cereal box cardboard, smeared broken china distress crackle paint all over the edges. I let that dry, I only got tiny crackles, so I'm going to have to practice, but it was o.k. for this project. Sponged black ink all around the edges and on the crackle paint, Stamped the flourishes and bats in black, stamped the skull and Spooky on Tempting Turquoise with black ink and cut out, raised them on pop dots, attached the hinges, and gave the whole thing a couple of sprays with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch.
Hop over to Gingersnap Creations for some wonderful inspiration and stretch your wings.
I'm also entering this in the Creative Inspirations challenge: Spooky--I think it kind of fits the theme.
2 Challenges:
Supplies: Cereal Box, Papers: Free Clip Art image, Stampin Up-Tempting Turquoise, Stamp: Little Yellow Bicycle-Frightful Collection, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Ranger Distress Crackle Paint-broken china, CTMH black hinges, Stampin Up-Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, pop dots.

Artist At Work

I am an artist at work today. I'm squeezing this post in before Blogger starts maintenance this evening and believe it or not I have a couple of other projects in progress to be posted later tonight.
Just for tongue in cheek I've got quite a few shapes going on to go with the saying on the tag: "Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes--Art is knowing which one to keep" Or Not, as the case is with this card. Love the way the digi image turned out and the tag. I'm not usually the do over girl, but I may take this one apart and ahhh, do it over--later. :-)

Hallo-Scream

I made this card using all papers from my scrap box and new lace and stamp set from Stampin Up.
I paper pieced the dress, vest, and cat, used Scor-Tape to secure the black lace around the square. I wasn't quite sure about this color combo: black, cream, kraft, but I think it turned out very effective for this cute happy hallo-scream!

Vellum Snowflakes

This card is for sure for the Bah! Humbug! challenge this week because my central image is embossed vellum with the new embossing folder from Stampin Up. I used the sketch from Creative Inspirations, but they may kick me off their challenge because there is no stamping on this card. I'll give it a go over there but I wanted to make sure you all knew where the sketch came from.
These are those wonderful papers from My Mind's Eye Signature Christmas Holiday Glitter Book, and in person this card is so pretty and sparkly, those 3 brads  holding the vellum on were the perfect finishing touch. Well, except for no stamping. Sorry girls.
2 Challenges:
Supplies: 5 1/4" Square White Card Blank, Papers: Stampin Up-Whisper White and Vellum card stock, My Mind's Eye signature Christmas Holiday Glitter Book, Best Occasions card stock blue, Sharpie Poster Paint Pen-silver, Stampin Up-Pretties Kit brads, Stampin Up-Sizzix Textured Impressions-Northern Flurry embossing folder, Fiskars shape cutting template-Circles-1, Coluzzle circle shape cutter template, Stampin Up dimensionals.

HB Fancy Fold

This is a very long post, I hope I don't lose you half way through, it's worth the length if you hang in there.
This card started it's life as an idea for the Crafty Cardmakers Fancy Folds challenge. Looking at all the other challenges that I might be able to combine-- this is the final product of a fun afternoon. I usually say I'm not the puzzle girl, but I do love fooling around with different folds and techniques.
One of the next challenges I looked at was Allsorts Challenge-Lets Play Bingo-I chose the 1st vertical row which is Brads, Buttons, punch. Hop over and see how the DT worked their Bingo cards.
It took four pictures to show the whole card. The first three are the outside of the card, first pulling the ribbon to the left, then if you just lift the ribbon to the right you've got a little place to write something and some clockworks, the final picture is the inside lifted open from the bottom, your final sentiment and
can also write something on the top fold inside.
I CASED a card from Card Maker Magazines Fall issue of Fun Folds. Thanks to the card designed by Kathleen Paneitz I was inspired to create my card. Same folds and shapes, but with different papers and stamps it came out very different.
It's not hard to create and gives you lots of fun surfaces to decorate and write on.

Disorderly Discoveries

As the holidays approach and life speeds up even more than usual I can think of a number of people I could gift this bag to with a nice bottle of wine or sparkling grape juice to get a handle on things and realize that it's not a disaster if everything doesn't go perfect all the time.
I used a white glossy tag with some VersaMark ink and clear embossing powder, distress inks blended around, stamped my black sentiments, and then some gold swirlies, added the fou fou yarn and gold tassels, some Paper Studio stickers on the bag. Bingo! a nice little gift from the ♥.
My friend Annette came over and suggested that I enter this tag in the Gingersnap Creations challenge this week. It just happens to be to use VersaMark. I went over and looked around their site, very arty, and lots of talent. I will keep a close eye over there and might start entering more often. I have put them on my Wednesday side bar, so if you haven't found them hop over and check them out and check out Annette also, she's a visiting artist at Gingersnap Creations this month.

Halloween Bite

Tonight I want to give the girls at Project Tuesday a great big Thank You and a Shout Out. They featured my Nugget Purse from their challenge last Tuesday. I've been playing at Project Tuesday for over a year and I've been featured several times. The Design Team are very talented and very generous with their praise and spreading around chances to win and be featured on their site. If you haven't found them go over and have a look around. They really challenge us to stretch our creative wings and create outside our normal box.
The Challenge this Tuesday is a Treat Bag Cover and I have chosen to stick with the Halloween theme because I thought this stamp was perfect for the candy inside the cover and I photoed the back because one of the challenges I'm entering is Scary Creatures, so you get the full effect back and front.

4 Challenges:

Supplies: Instructions on Project Tuesday web site, Papers: Stampin Up-Close To Cocoa, YoYo Yellow, Very Vanilla, Stamps: Stampin Up-Twick or Tweet, Itty Bitty Backgrounds, Ink: Stampin Up-Early Expresso, Concord Grape, Rich Razzleberry, Martha Stewart border punch, ribbon-Offray, small hole punch, sewing machine w/purple thread, cello bag-Hobby Lobby, candy your choice.

Friends Are A Sweet Treat

A quick edit: because of my slowness I missed the challenge at Cute Card Thursday, but I'm leaving it on the list because if you haven't found them they are a very popular challenge site and you might want to hop over and check them out. I missed the Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge also, but again click on the links below for all the fun challenges. General living sure gets in the way of crafting around here.
A lot of elements have gone into this card, so it's fitting that it qualifies for 8 Challenges. It's been awhile since I've fitted one card into that many challenges.
I've used a digi pixie fairy from C.C. Designs, Copic markers, chalks, made my own flowers and buttons, used my black Spica glitter pen on her wings and spider webs and my white gel pen for some cute little dots.  To bad I couldn't find a challenge that called for a scene, this one makes me ready to get my Trick or Treat bag ready for candy.
8 Challenges:
Supplies: Very Vanilla 5 1/2" square card blank, Papers: Stampin Up-Very Vanilla, Dusty Durango, Certainly Celery, Tangerine Tango, K&Co. Spooktacular Designer Paper Pad, Making Memories double-sided paper for flowers,  Stamps: C.C. Happy Pumpkin

This is a card and it opens from right to left. I should have taken a picture of the inside, but people were calling me and I'm a little pressed for time now. So, onward and upward.
I want to give a big thank you to Hope Jacare Doodles for donating the free digi for the challenge at I Did It Creations Challenge Blog. You can go to their Boutique and find more of her great digis.
At Stamptacular Sunday Challenge we're supposed to Layer It Up! with at least 5 layers and I think I did 5 and a couple more.
I used card shapes template from Oriental Trading Co. to cut the pumpkin card, the round tab punch for the stem, Sizzlits Little Leaves die, oval coluzzle cutting template for the pumpkins ovals, printed the digi on Whisper White card stock and cut it out with a scallop Spellbinder die, inked all edges, colored the digi with Copic markers, stickled his eyes and mouth for some sparkle, a couple of little bows for just a tad of pizazz and Wah Lah!! Some clapping from me because I think this turned out so cute and we're on to entering:

Congrats

As usual when I'm combining challenges I read at least one thing wrong on my list. One of the challenges I was making this for was ribbons, buttons, and bling, but I failed to read one more line that said + a digi. Oops, no digi on here, will have to come up with another card for that one. This one might have been a little too masculine for that challenge anyway. I have lots of favorite colors, but I usually come back to brown. I really like how this turned out so manly, even with the ribbon and buttons.
One of the challenges this is being entered into is to use a bargain stamp and tell how much you paid for it. Actually, you can't get much of a better bargain than free, yep, this set was a freebie to me from a friend. Another challenge is to use something from your stash, that would be the linen thread, I keep a stash of that but don't use it very often.
And, by the way this card is dedicated to One Stop Craft Challenge blog--this is their 100th week--kudos to them--they have beefed up their site, changed some of their rules to make it more inclusive for all of us and work very hard providing us with great challenges every week. One of my favorite places to play.

Dream Art

When I saw Susan's Imagination and Creativity challenge this week and then Let's Ink It Up came up with use your favorite stamp with a charm this was the stamp that came to mind for these two challenges.
I keep this stamp above my desk as much for inspiration as for using.
I love the heart with dream and the heart with art, but then for those down days when you feel yourself behind the 8 ball and your creativity has tanked, I look at the heart that says, 8 Ball, corner pocket and I visualize sinking that ball with confidence and somehow I feel a little spark and bingo, ideas start to spark.
Each week Susan has lots of inspiration and food for thought on her challenge blog. If you haven't found her click on the link above and give her challenges a try. You might find some sparklers there.

So Thankful

Happy October! We've had very fall like weather today, hope it holds. Fall is my favorite time of year.
I got kind of carried away with this card. First, I want to say a great big Thank You to Laurie at Doodle Pantry for all the kind emails and help during this time that I was replacing digis. This is a digi from The Doodle Pantry. Isn't this little bird cute, and this image comes with some sentiments also, love that.
With some sewing, some stickles, some Prima flowers, and these luscious fibers, Copic markers, don't forget the distressing, I really loaded up this 4" X 5 1/2" card. I usually make 5" X 6 1/2" cards because I don't think this size card can handle this much stuff, but that's the beauty of digis, you can size them to fit proportionally.
I don't know if you can tell or not, but I also raised up the bird and the sentiment, then my flower and leaves finish off the 3D effect. All in all, I'm pretty pleased.
6 Challenges:
Supplies: Cream Card Blank 4" X 5 1/2" The Paper Company, Papers: Cloud 9 Design Harvest Holiday Glitter Mat Stack, Stampin Up-Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Peach Parfait, Stamps-Doodle Pantry digi stamp, Inkadinkado-98549 Autumn Foliage, Ink: Stampin Up-Old Olive, Dusty Durango, Copic markers, Stickles-Copper, EK Success sm. corner rounder, Prima Flowers, The Paper Studio Spare Parts-mini heart brad, mini felt leaf sticker unknown, EK Success-fibers, sewing machine, copper thread, Tim Holtz distressing tool, pop dots.
