I'm squeezing this one in at the last minute at Our Creative Corner. You had to be really creative this week because the challenge was to pick an analogous color scheme. 3 colors next to each other on the color wheel. My colors are purple, navy blue, and a tealy blue, then a neutral to help pull it all together. I'm pretty sure that's right.
You're not seeing double, I off set the birdcage just a little,  kind of like the little bird just flew away.
This card is also for the sketch this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches. I am usually a regular player there, but the holidays hit and as you know I'm slowing getting back in the swing of things. So I have to do a little bit of clapping because my first time back this year and Melissa and her team picked my Guitar card for a Top 5 place and I got a great badge to display on my side bar. Thank you girls. What a nice way to start the New Year.

Winter Wonderland

This card is for 2 Challenges:
The inspiration photo at The Shabby Tearoom is awesome. Some of you may not agree because you are so tired of looking at a white world. Not to rub it in, but today in N. Texas it was 72 degrees. Of course, by Tuesday we are supposed to get some wintry mix. Where we live you can wear shorts one day and coats the next :-)

Supplies: White Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: White textured card stock unknown, Stampin Up-Brushed Silver, Stamps: Hampton Art-Snowflake Horizon, Inkadinkado-Warm Holiday Wishes, Ink: VersaMark, CTMH Silver embossing powder, Cuttlebug embossing folder-Snowflakes, Spellbinders Nestabilities-Lg. I've enjoyed watching the instructional videos by Gina K over at Stamp TV for awhile now and I've had some of Gina K's stamps for awhile also. I recently ordered her Sent With Love Stamp TV Kit. I don't usually order kits because there is usually some things in a kit that I wouldn't use, but not so with this kit. You get stamps, paper, ribbon, brads, such a nice bundle package, and all wonderful quality. All the paper and stamps are from this kit.
If you haven't joined the Stamp TV community you might want to go over and check it out. Lots of fun challenges and prizes too.
I made this card for the Sketch Challenge and then discovered that the new Color Spotlight Challenge is Black, Red, and White, so I'm going to enter it in both of those challenges, hope that's alright.

I'm usually the red, green, and gold color scheme, but I'm learning. Oh, yes, my hubby wants me to tell all--this started life as a toilet roll :-)

What's Brewing?

Here's another creation for Gingersnap Creations Challenge Blog. I really like how they have a lot of different challenges throughout the month and they run for a couple of weeks to a month at a time. That  gives me time to mull things over and hopefully come up with some quality creations.
Some days like today the ideas just flow, but some days I need a little bit of mulling and time to dig through my stamps for just the right combination.
Supplies: Ivory Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Love Letter Designer Series Paper, Stamps: Just For Fun-Faux Postage, Rubbernecker-teapot and teacup, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Stampin Up-Cherry Cobbler and marker, stiple brush, Fiskars paper edgers scissors-stamp, Fiskars corner border hearts punch, Stampin Up-Trim Lace Raven, glue dot.

Coffee Filter + Cupcake Kisses

This project is for the Gingersnap Creations Spicy Supply Challenge
  • GC86:  Spicy Supply--Coffee Filters
I've been mulling this project over for the last week. Some of the gals have created coffee filter albums, very cute, but I didn't want to copy that. Then there are coffee filter flowers, that's been done a lot. I kept looking at these cone shaped coffee filters and the ones that I got the bottom is sealed. Cupcakes kept coming into my mind, and I thought well, that could look kind of like a cupcake. So, without further ado, I ran the filter through my crimper, ran the tea dye distress ink pad across that to create the cupcake holder, but I thought that might need a little something more. A brown marker to define the lines, umm, maybe to messy, so covered that up with decorative cord and sponged the tea dye ink on that, yea, kind of like that. Cut the cupcake top free hand, sponged the edges, cut slots for the candles, attached to the coffee filter, used my trusty White Liquid Applique for a little bit of frosting, added red stickles for just a little bling.  Stamped and cut out the sentiment, sponged
edges and popped that up. Cut tag, and stamped, sponged the edges, attached the candle with tiny heart brad.
You know the cone coffee filter makes the neatest pocket for the tag and a little bit of spending money or gift card to fit into. I didn't show you the back of mine because I need to make it as pretty as the front before giving it as a gift.
I think I finally came up with a Gott ♥ original.

Supplies: Cone shaped coffee filter, Papers: Stampin Up-Sweet Slumber Specialty Designer Paper, Stamps: Stampendous-Birthday Brackets, Sweet & Sassy-Birthday Wishes, Hampton Art-Happy Birthday, Fiskars-Be Mine, Ink: Ranger Distress Ink-tea dye, Stampin Up-Cherry Cobbler and marker, Fiskars shape cutter template-Cupcakes, Sakura Gelly Roll-Clear Star and Glaze pens, Marvy White Liquid Applique, Suze Weinberg's Pure Glitz-Ruby Slippers, Scor Tape, pop dots.

Bluebird Friendship

I'm slowly getting back to playing in some of my favorite challenges.

Heavy Metal

I haven't played at Tuesday Morning Sketches since way before the holidays. I've been missing Melissa and her team. So, I'm jumping back in her challenge pool with her challenge for this week:
I used a variety of techniques on this card:
  • a die cut
  • an embossing folder
  • brayered ink over the embossed card stock
  • heat embossed guitar
  • silver metallic rub-on around edges of die cut
  • ticket punch and silver poster paint pen around edges of main mat
It sounds like a lot, but when you get going it all comes together pretty quickly, and I have to say I love my new ticket stamps from Whimsy Stamps

Supplies: Black Card Blank 5" X 6 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: green card stock unknown, Stampin Up-Whisper White, Silver, Stamps: CTMH-D1346 You Rock, Whimsy Stamps-Ticket Sentiments, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Ranger Big and Juicy Ink Pad-Happy Birthday, VersaMark Ink Pad, brayer, Stampin Up black embossing powder, Sharpie Poster Paint Pen-silver, Craf-T Products Metallic Rub-Ons-silver, Crafts-Too-Musical Notes embossing folder, Stampin Up-Bigz Top Note die, Stampin Up-ticket punch, Hot Off The Press-music note brads, Color Bok-silver metal dots, pop dots.

Owl Always Love You

I joined up at Stamp TV right before Christmas and have been lurking through the holidays. This is my first card that I'm jumping in with for one of their challenges. I have loved Gina K. Designs for a long time and this is one of her stamp sets that I bought some time ago. The paper is from Daisy Bucket Designs and the die around the owls is one of my new Nellie Snellen dies. They work like Spellbinder dies, pretty cool and very versatile. The cuts around the sentiment are with a corner rounder and a scallop border punch. I liked the way they kind of mimicked the die cut around the owls.

Stencil Splash Xmas

This card is for my 2 favorite Christmas Card Challenges. One is to use stencils and the other is to use acrylic paints. There's some snowflake messy stenciling, and some acrylic paint dabber pouncing and dragging. I told one of my friends not to long ago to loosen up, so I decided to take my own advice. You can't get much looser on a card than this. Definitely not a card for everyone, but it kind of grew on me as I put it together.
Supplies: Green card blank 4" X 5 1/2", Papers: textured white card stock unknown, Stamps: Stampin Up-Big On Christmas, Plastic Snowflake stencil unknown, Ink: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Adirondack Paint Dabbers-Red Pepper, Lettuce, Aqua, Stampin Up markers-Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Sharpie Poster Paint Pen-Silver, Recollections-red pearl stickers, The Paper Studio-Glitter Foam Snowflakes, American Crafts-ribbon, gold star sticker unknown.

Let's Relax

I had a great weekend--hope everyone else did too. I got to go to the StampScrapArtTour show in Mesquite,Tx. Saturday. Lots of great vendors and lots of great people there demonstrating and having a wonderful time. This year I have vowed to use the things I bought there instead of savoring them and waiting almost a whole year to use them.
This card is my first attempt at faux postage. I got the templates and stamps for a variety of configurations, but this one fit this stamp to a T.
I got this wonderful stamp set during the Christmas holidays and just couldn't seem to get it inked up, but this challenge at The Cheerful Stamp Pad was the opportunity I've been waiting for. This is the Relish Reading set from Rogue Redhead Designs
The challenge is to create something relaxing--sitting down with a good book is one of the most relaxing things I know of and this girl looks like she's enjoying her book and contemplating what she has read on a soft summer evening under a tree.
Supplies: Ivory Card Blank 4" X 5 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Stampin Up-Rose Red, Whisper White, Stamps: Rogue Redhead Designs, Stampabilities-Le London Script, Inks: Ranger Archival Ink-Jet Black, Coffee, Ranger Distress Inks-victorian velvet, spun sugar, tea dye, bundled sage, stormy sky, Fiskars decorative edge scissors, Fiskars decorative corner punch, Stampin Up-Antique brads, ribbon-Michael's, glue dots.

My Sons and One Grandson

These are my two sons--Jason on right 1st born, Nathan on left 2nd born. Gage is Nathan's son, my youngest grandson. They ride with a motorcycle group called Soldiers For Jesus and their colors are black and yellow. At Christmas they saw a scarf I had crocheted for my sister and they said boy Mom would we like to have 10 scarves for our group. I happened to have an easy scarf pattern handy and I have a large stash of yarn(by this time you already know I'm a craft maniac), so in the evenings I have been crocheting these scarves. Of course, Gage had to have one like the big boys.

Thanks for visiting,

I'm getting back in the groove. I found The Shabby Tearoom Challenge blog late last year, played a few times and won some honorable mentions and a Top 3. So, I'm hoping my first card in their challenges this year is worthy.
The middle band I made by brayering my Textile Cuttlebug folder with Crumb Cake ink and running it through the Big Shot with Whisper White card stock. I apologize to the gal that I copied that from because I didn't write down her name and blog. If you see this give me a shout out and I'll fix that.
If I made New Year's resolutions that would be one of them--to be sure to write down who and where I get these ideas. I have a special notebook here at the computer just for that now.
The flower is tissue paper stamped with a script stamp and Crumb Cake, very subtle, and the button was from my stash.
Supplies: White Card Blank 4" X 5 1/2" Halcraft, Papers: Colorbok-Buttons, Stampin Up-Whisper White, White tissue paper, Crumb Cake, Stamps: Clear Art Stamps-Sew Special, Stampabilities-Le London Script, Ink: Stampin Up-Crumb Cake, Stampin Up-Sizzlits Birds & Blooms, Cuttlebug embossing folder-Textile, Fiskars decorative corner punch, Stampin Up-Linen Thread, Wright's-Hem Tape & decorative trim, glue dots.

Peace On Earth

My first official challenge card of 2011. Yes, that's right it's for Bah! Humbug! Challenge 1. I was very happy to see the ladies at Bah! Humbug! were willing to under take the big challenge of running this fabulous blog again this year. What an inspiration this was for me, a grand procrastinator. I was very pleasantly surprised when I sat down to send out Christmas cards, not only did I have enough, but I had extras.  Everybody got something unique and different, not  just a couple of boxes of cookie cutter store boughts.
Hop over to Bah! Humbug! and sign up for the loyalty challenge of 2011 and you too can have extra time to spend on cooking, cleaning, and present wrapping at the beginning of the holidays instead of worrying about whipping up those last minute Christmas cards.

I have another Thanks card today. This is Happy Hannah, she is an Auntie Amy stamp. This is one of the cards I will be submitting to Vamp Stamp News for the Alcohol Ink Challenge. Keep your fingers crossed one of my entries might get picked.
I better let you all know that this K&Co. paper pad was from 2009 so you probably won't be able to find it, but there are so many wonderful papers out there I'm sure this will spark your imaginations and you'll be able to create something even better.

Warm Heart Thanks

Happy 2011

Happy New Year wishes to everyone. It's hard to believe this is the beginning of the 4th year of my blogging experience. This card is not only for all the family and friends who will receive one physically, but to all my followers and visitors here at my blog. Your comments and support have been heart warming to say the least. The challenges I've won, the magazines I've been published in and just the general growth of my art abilities have been very exciting.
This year will see some changes on my blog. I have plans for a remodel to freshen things up, I have plans to send some more things in for publication consideration, I will be participating in challenges, I'll be posting to my book blog more frequently(I hope), so all in all this year promises to be another busy year.
There are so many wonderful products and companies out there that it is hard to pick just one and stick with it. It's just in my nature to like to mix things up and that's what I've done with my first card of 2011.
Stampin Up, American Crafts, Will 'n Way Stamps, Spellbinders Nestabilities, The Paper Studio, and Offray are the companies that star on this card. This is a simple sketch that can be used with many different stamps and papers to create a simple yet classy card to share with anyone.

Happy creating and thanks for viewing,
Beverly G ♥
