So Many Fish ATC/Bee Hive Fat Page

ATCs & Cards With Attitude      Challenge 12--Anything Goes/One Layer

Fat Pages & Cards With Attitude     Challenge 12-Anything Goes/One Layer

Apologies to everyone. I was supposed to post these challenges here on Friday, but I've been on sick gal and still not feeling well. I won't bore you with symptoms, but suffice it to say I got sick quicker than I'm getting well and that's even with a visit to the Doc.
So, please if you've got time in the next week and a half please click on the links above and you'll be able to find the details to these two projects and if you've got just a smidge more time please enter in on the challenges. As always there are prizes to be won and if you've ever considered being on a design team we're looking for a couple of new members. Don't hide your talent under a bush hop in and give it a tryout.
That's about all for me, I'm heading back to bed and some cough medicine.

Earth Day

It's a beautiful Earth Day here in N. TX. When the seasons change here we usually go straight from winter to summer, but this year we are having a beautiful spring. Everyone is out walking, biking, going to the park with the kids, and sprucing up their yards. A Happy Time, perfect for remembering to take good care of the planet we are fortunate to live on.
I had this great scrap of paper that reminded me of the swirling cosmos, so I stamped the dove and earth on it, cut small slits on the top and bottom of the dove's beak to insert the punched olive branch. I then stamped Peace on Earth on a transparency scrap with black Stazon ink and attached it to the stamped mat with tiny blue brads. I popped this mat up on the green ATC blank with dimensionals and bingo I've got an ATC that I should reproduce for however many world leaders we have and send them one.

Hi Flowers

Rogue Redhead Designs     Challenge #10-Spring Fashion Colors

Getting a very late start today--all excuses aside--I've got a pretty spring card for you today. Yes, spring has sprung where I live. All the flowers are blooming, we even had a barn swallow couple building a nest on the inside of our front porch, alas, the nest wasn't anchored good enough and it fell down. They'll have to begin again next year.
Challenge #10 is up and running over at Rogue Redhead Designs and we'd love for you all to come over and have some fun. It's all about the Spring Fashion Colors.
I've chosen to go with the pastel colors on the chart and I've used Stampin' Up colors, ribbon, and Smooch. I also used the Spellbinder Scallop Ovals dies.
A Daffodil Delight card base and a mat of Certainly Celery with tiny white stripes which I corner rounded and sponged around the edge with Certainly Celery ink. I attached the cool pleated ribbon with Scor-Tape, then proceeded on to stamping.
I first sprayed a piece of Blushing Bride card stock with Blushing Bride Smooch and then stamped the flowers with Basic Grey ink from the Floriculture stamp set. This kept things subtle so nothing would overwhelm the spring colors. I did the same thing with the sentiment, which is from the Bits and Pieces stamp set.
I sponged around the edges of the Wisteria Wonder Ovals with Wisteria Wonder ink for just a bit of a pop, and attached them with dimensionals.
The challenge runs until May 7th so you've all got plenty of time to come over and join in on the fun and prizes. The colors are yummy so I expect to some really great creations.

Sunflower Buggies

Fat Pages & Cards With Attitude     Challenge 11-Anything Goes

Another busy general living day and fooling around with technical issues.
We're up with Challenge 11-Anything Goes. As with our sister challenge ATCs & Cards With Attitude you have 2 weeks to create some wonderful projects and enter for some neat prizes. We've got 2 Sponsors this time around so there are lots to go around.
I've chosen to work with the Sunflower Buggies digi, from Meljen's Designs.  I'm going to give you a little bit of a challenge of my own this time. If you want to know the details of how I created this Fat Page I would like for you to hop over to the Fat Pages Challenge site. If you don't care to enter that's o.k., however, of course, I would love for you to enter, but you can read how I made some boo boos on this project and how I think I might have saved it. You don't want to get rid of what you think may be boo boos because they may actually be masterpieces in disguise.
Then I would like for you to come back over here and let me know if you think I might be able to save this Fat Page.
Of course, you'll get to see the other DT members projects and you will get some more inspiration than just from my project.
Have some fun in the next 2 weeks and I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Hello ATC

ATCs & Cards With Attitude     Challenge 11-Theme-Anything Goes

Wow Whew! We had a record number of entries in Challenge 10, thanks to all and we hope to see you and more back for our new Challenge 11. Anything Goes will be easy again and you've got 2 weeks to create great projects.
This time around I've chosen this Hello Doodle digi from our Sponsor Limited Runs Stamps. If you don't have any Limited Runs digis that's o.k., but if you do we'd love to see what you come up with.
I printed the digi on Pool Party card stock, placed the Spellbinder scallop rectangle die over the digi, cut it out and embossed it. I traced around the same die on Night of Navy card stock and cut it out by had to give just a slight border behind the scallop. I colored the dragonfly wings with a Clear Gel pen, the daisies with a Picket Fence distress marker, the shadow on Hello with a Certainly Celery marker, added my favorite tiny button brads and popped the scallop ATC up on the mat with dimensionals. Clean, simple, and crisp.
Come one, come all, join in on the fun, show us some attitude. I look forward to seeing your projects for Challenge 11 at ATCs & Cards With Attitude.

Subtle Changes Are Done

I think all the changes have officially gone through on my blog. I am now a .com. Instead of a seperate web site I have chosen to tie my domain name to my blogs for now. If you type in  you will be redirected to Still looks the same and now that the changes have gone through I can get back to posting my projects and hopefully getting back into challenges on a regular basis.
The next on line lettering class started this week, so I've been working on that also.

Stepping Things Up A Notch

This post is for all my loyal followers and any loyal visitors, and maybe anybody who's just passing through.
Since I made the cover and got the two page spread in the April Scrap & Stamp Arts magazine I've been mulling my artistic endeavors over. Hence, the title of this post.
I updated the picture on my blog today, but I still need to play with that some. It needs to be just a tiny bit bigger. I played around with the lighting on it today and I'm pretty pleased with that so far. There are some next steps that I feel I need to take and that will involve some computer work and fiddling with my blog and email addresses a bit, so consequently, my blog may be down for the next few days, possibly into the weekend.
This old gal is delving into some new territory, technical wise, so I hope I get it all correct and don't mess everything up.
Thanks for sticking with me. Will see you back on the grid in a few and hope to be back playing in challenges when I get all this taken care of.

Baby Dear

Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog     Challenge 8 2012-Quirky Happy Event(recipe-GINGHAM, RIBBONS (OR GINGHAM RIBBONS), and NOVELTY BABY BUTTONS/EYELETS OR BRADS.

Welcome Followers and Blog Hoppers to my second time to be Guest Designer on Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog. Needless, to say such an honor. OK, will quit clapping now.
I'll start off by saying the challenge lasts for 2 weeks so even with the busyest of  schedules I bet you can get a baby card or project made because this is spring and lots of babies get born at this time of year so you might need to send a welcome.
This challenge is about the Happy Event--Welcoming Baby or Congrats on Pregnancy. We've got a little recipe to follow this time around as you can see up above.
The sponsor this time around is Stitchy Bear Stamps. I've used Toy Bunny and Clown Doll.
I use Open Office to manipulate my digi stamps. I created the scroll and then made the clown doll sit on the top left edge and put the toy bunny on the bottom right, I had to flip him. I looked around for a welcome baby quote and found this one at Quote Garden and put it in the scroll. When I was happy with the placement of everything I printed it out on 80lb. Neenah card stock and colored everything with Copic Markers.
The plaid paper is DCWV from an old mat stack in my stash and that is what I based my coloring of the digis on. I punched the courners with a Fiskars heart corner punch and added my favorite button brads from Making Memories. To finish it off I popped the scroll up with dimensionals and added the pink gingham bow to the bunnies neck with a glue dot.
That's my take on this challenge and I hope to see a lot of you over at Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog in the next 2 weeks participating, who knows you might win the prize and be asked to come on for a Guest Spot like me. It could happen.

Forest Fairies

Wicked Wednesday Weekly ATC Challenges     WW#26-Forest Fairies & Woodland Nymphs

I've really been using my alcohol inks lately. I have to say when I first just had to have them I wasn't to thrilled  with the results I got from my efforts with them. However, I watched a few YouTube videos(for some further instruction, love that we have that available without having to leave home)and with some practice I'm loving the effects I can get now.
Like on this ATC I like the ethereal effect I got with aqua, cool peri, mountain rose, and lemonade. The silhouette stamps are some that I won in a challenge from The Stamp Man
There's still time to get out your fairy stamps and embellies and enter over at Wicked Wednesday, you ought to hop over and join in the fun.

Beach Fun

Rogue Redhead Designs     Beach Babes Stamp Set

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone! Grab a cuppa and get ready to create.
I pulled out the Beach Babes Stamp Set this morning because it's starting to feel a little bit like beach weather around here. I know Sunday is Easter, but Mother Nature is the one rushing things not me.
I've layered up today. I used Stampin' Up papers except for the shell background and I printed that from a free Google image.
I stamped the sentiment and punched it out with the Modern Label punch, sponged around the edges with Pool Party and attached it to the shell background with tiny gray brads, then attached all that to the card front.
Next, I stamped the kids on cream card stock and colored with my new Distress Markers. I cut it out with the Stampin' Up Framelits die and left it in the die to ink around the edges with Pool Party. I love it when you pop it out it leaves a little edge of the cream card showing (or whatever you've stamped on). I wanted just a small layer under it so I traced around the die and cut it out attached the two together and popped them up with dimensionals. I told you I layered up today--
Hope you get a feeling of those cool summer breezes at the beach and....
Don't forget to hop over to Rogue Redhead Designs and check out what my other team members are creating with all the Rogue Redhead Designs stamp sets.

Telephone Thank You

I labeled this under personal challenges today because I wanted to create a special Thank You card for my Hubby to send for all the nice presents he got at his party and to the nice people who came to make his evening special.
This was one of the first rubber stamps I bought after I started stamping in '08 and what could be more appropriate than a phone stamp for a phone man.
This was this weeks challenge sketch from {Freshly Made} Sketches   (I missed their deadline by a few hrs.)
I heat embossed the phone and words with black embossing powder for some dimension and tactile feel.

Chocolate Bunnies ATC

Wicked Wednesday Weekly ATC Challenges     WW#25-Easter or Bunnies/Chicks

I missed out last week on the Baby Challenge at Wicked Wednesday, but I was determined to get in on the Easter Challenge this week.
I broke out my pink and brown paper, and these cute little stamps from Studio G, you know the ones for a buck, VersaMark ink and Brownie embossing powder from Zing! The rest is history as they say, oh yeah, and I can't forget a Pink Sharpie marker for that little bit of border that keeps me in the lines.
I know, I know art is supposed to be freeing, but I keep hearing my Grandmother say, put those finishing touches on there Beverly.
Happy Easter Everyone, and be sure to bite the ears and tail off first.

Sailing Fat Page

Fat Pages & Cards With Attitude     Challenge #10-Anything Goes

I picked another digi from Delicious Doodles one of our sponsors this week. If you haven't been over to Delicious Doodles I have to tell you they have such a huge variety of styles. I also have to say I was a little skeptical of digis when I first learned about them, but now that I have learned to manipulate them they have a place in my studio, not only can you use them alone, but you can used them with you regular rubber and clear mount stamps as well. That works for me because I love to meld styles.
This started as a black and white image. I sized it to fit the Fat Page with just a bit of a border showing, but before I attached it to the Fat Page, I used my new Distress markers to do a watercolor wash effect to give it the feeling of a tinted photo. Before I did the wash the lighthouse was just kind of in the background, but after I finished I noticed that the lighthouse had kind of a glow. I really liked how this turned out.
The quote words that I attached are also a digi and they are from Dilly Bean Stamps, she's one of my new favorite artists right now.
This 4" X 4" format for these Fat Pages is a fun size to work on. Hope you've gleaned some inspiration from my post today and we would love to have you come over and enter at our challenge. We have prizes almost every week and my fellow team mates have some great projects to share with you also.
You have until April 12th to enter. Look forward to seeing some familiar names in the entry list.

Clockwork Heart ATC

ATCs & Cards With Attitude     Challenge #10-Anything Goes

Friday and Saturday got completely away from me, but that's what happens when you throw parties. However, my Hubby is completely retired now, YAY! Everything turned out really nice and for not being a party guy, he actually had fun.
Now, I'm glad this is a two week challenge so I don't think I've put you guys to far behind and I hope you get some inspiration here.
Delicious Doodles is our sponsor this time around and I picked this great Chains and Cogs digi to play with.  I sized the digi to fit on the ATC, found this great quote to add inside the frame and printed onto Brushed Silver card stock. I heated it with the heat gun just to make sure the ink was completely dry to avoid smearing. I then added this cool 3D heart sticker from Jolee's Boutique. Oops, before I added the sticker I went around the edges with a Black Sharpie pen for just a small border. I like that finished off look you get doing that.
We starting to have some repeat players at ATCs & Cards With Attitude and that's very nice to see, but it's also nice to see new people finding our challenge blog also. So, if you love challenges and haven't played at this one be sure to hop over and give it a try. You've got until April 12th to enter and we also try to have prizes each challenge, now who doesn't love prizes?
If nothing else, hop over to see what the other team members have come up with for Challenge #10, we didn't all pick the same digi to work with. Look forward to seeing some familiar names.
