Framed Daisy Pot

Recycle, Re-Invent, & Re-Purpose     Anything Goes or Bonus Round-Frame It

Tomorrow is August 1st and our monthly challenge is up and running with an Anything Goes and if you'd like to be in the running for one of Chris's great digi designs you can make something for the Bonus Round: Frame It. Just don't forget to put BR after your name when you link up your project.
As you can see above I have used The Floral Sun Montage digi which I have framed with a handmade frame. She's the wistful centerpiece for this He Loves Me...He Loves Me Not... Dasiy die cut from a cereal box, gessoed, and doodled with a sepia pen. I found this extra bottle cap in the bottom of one of my stash drawers so I alcohol inked it and filled it with alcohol inked tiny seed beads and then mounted the framed Floral Sun Montage in that. A dowel wrapped with ribbon, a couple of hand cut leaves embossed and inked attached with the odd bit of green wire and stuck into an air freshener tub that I wrapped with packing paper painted red and tied with some old twine. I pulled the moss out of some of my old floral design school supplies and you've got a very one of a kind flower piece.
When I showed this to my husband and Mom they both said, you're going to have a heck of a time mailing that, but you know that would have been perfect for your craft booths.  They are so used to me making cards these days when I do come up with a 3D art piece it's hard not to harken back to days gone by.
I know all of you with kiddos with be buying school clothes, school supplies, and getting them all registered at school, but don't forget a bit of time for yourself to unwind a bit from all that shopping and RECYCLE, RE-INVENT, OR RE-PURPOSE some of that packaging that all that stuff comes in.
You've got a whole month, no pressure, the team and I are looking forward to seeing what bits and pieces you put together for your creation.
Speaking of the team, click on the link above and check out their creations for some more inspiration other than just mine.

Sugar & Spice ATC

Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge Blog     WW#42-Sugar & Spice

This week's challenge at Wicked Wednesday has been a stumper for me for some reason. I've been mulling and mulling. Didn't want anything cutesy for some reason. This afternoon I hit upon this image from freegraphics.com . I colored it with Copic markers and attached it to a hot pink ATC with some jazzy pattern paper. Sometimes we all like a bit of savory with our sweet.

Holiday Greetings

Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps     Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge 117-Christmas In July
The Paper Players     PPC #105-Jaydee's Sketch Challenge

I have combined a stamp set I won at Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps-All Is Calm, with papers and ink from Stampin' Up to create this simple classy Christmas card. I changed the circle to an oval for the greeting, but otherwise stayed true to the sketch.
If you haven't checked out either of these challenges give them a try, always fun and the teams are very welcoming + talented.

Love Is No Jest

Art With No Boundaries     Anything Goes and Just Clowning Around Part 2

Clearly I've been watching too many Snow White movies lately.
I had every intention of making this a Lovely Jester, but when I got the heart spirelli made and chose the paper and laid everything out the first thing that came to my mind was Mirror, Mirror On The Wall. So this 2 weeks I'm on the Anything Goes side of the challenge with this card.
I used the Oval Harlequin 1 and the Stylized Spirelli Heart to create this simple, but elegant card. I used silver blending filament to wrap the heart, and added the tiny red gems for the finishing touches.
You can get the Harlequin digis and the Spirelli kit at cs-designs.blogspot.com
I hope you take the time to click on the link above and see the phenomenal projects my team members created for the 2nd part of this challenge. You'll definitely get lots of artistic inspiration from taking a look.
Hope to see you entering at Art With No Boundaries in the next 2 weeks and don't forget if you enter the bonus round be sure to put BR after your name so that you will be eligible for the prize.

Basic Black

CAS-UAL FRIDAYS     CFC62-Back in Black

I've titled this card Basic Black because it's like your little black dress that you keep in your closet that goes anywhere and can be dressed up or down per the occasion. You can never go wrong with a classic pairing of black and white.
All Stampin' Up products were used.
Click on the link above and join in on the classic fun at CAS-UAL FRIDAYS.

Doily Delight

In light of tragedies around the world I opted to make this card about Love. In my meager way I extend condolences and sympathies to all family and friends of anyone killed or hurt in war or senseless killing. Take advantage of small moments when they come your way and be ready at all times to meet whatever maker you believe in.
So much for my soap box.
I've used all Stampin' Up products here except for the embroidery floss and the Souffle pen to do the tiny hearts on the sentiment.
There are some interesting entries and Design Team takes on this particular sketch, so click on the link above and check out some more creative ideas.

Medusa Medallion

Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge Blog     WW #41-Famous Monsters

Saturday evening brings you a lady you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley. If you look at Medusa you turn to stone.
I printed some ancient Roman ruins and attached them to a grey ATC, printed Medusa and colored her with metallic pencils and blended with oderless solvent. I was trying to give the feel of a bronze like medallion. Then I couldn't resist printing--Bad Girl, Bad Girl-just for a bit of monsterlicious fun.
Strange Skin is sponsoring Wicked Wednesday this week and they've got some very monster monsters.

Sculpted Hearts

Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog     Make My metal Altered
Stampin' Royalty     SR #133-Anything Goes

We're finally in the consistent triple digits here in N. TX. so this is a very good time to spend the afternoon in my air conditioned studio. As usual I've got a few projects in the works. The first one I have ready this afternoon is for the Funkie side of Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog.
I had to ponder this one awhile, but finally came up with free hand sculpted hearts made out of modeling wire mesh. I still had this sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping in my mind, the only thing I left off was a sentiment. I wanted the sewing and the hearts to take center stage on this card.
I am also entering this in the Anything Goes challenge at Stampin' Royalty because even though you don't have to use only Stampin' Up products most everything on the card is Stampin' Up.
I've just recently discovered this modeling wire mesh and I'm finding it very fun and versatile to work with.
Click on the links above and jump in the fun while you're staying cool or staying in out of the rain depending where in the world you are ;-)

Center Sentiment

The Paper Players     LeAnn's Clean & Simple Challenge #104-Wordsmith-Make the sentiment front and center
Tuesday Morning Sketches     TMS#155-Sketch

I have discovered that if I don't enter Tuesday Morning Sketches on Tuesday or Wednesday the rest of the week just gets away from me. Fortunately today when I saw the sketch for this weeks challenge I had the perfect match up and a stamp set that immediately came to mind. The stamp set that this flower is in has two other centers plus this one and as you can see it fit The Paper Players challenge just right.
There are several more days to enter on both of the challenge blogs so be sure to click on the links above and check out what the Design Teams have created to spark your imaginations.

Elegant Thanks

SU-Only Challenges     SUO Challenge #49-A Special Thank You
Our Creative Corner     Color Challenge-Pink, Navy, and another color, no neutrals

I started the idea for this card with the theme from SU-Only Challenges and the colors from Our Creative Corner. No sketch this time, so I had to come up with the base to start from. Every once in awhile it's nice to create a card that's not a rectangle. With Stampin' Up's Framelits-Labels Collection I used the largest framelit to create the card. You know how that goes--you place your folded card stock just over the edge so that when you run it through your machine you are left with a hinge. For this one my hinge was kind of small so I added two eyelets on each side of the left point to be able to tie the bow through.
The base card is cut from Midnight Muse, the second mat is Pink Pirouette, and for my third color I used River Rock. That's what I dyed the seam binding with and lightly sponged around the pink die cut before I removed it from the die. The main images are stamped with Midnight Muse ink and the small leaf flourish with the pen is with River Rock ink. The finishing touches are the pearls and a bit of piercing, which I don't know if you can see on the card base.
I'm really liking these large dies and hope Stampin' Up comes up with some more shapes.
Hope this sparks some creative mojo and helps to break of your card shapes.

Try Stampin' On Tuesday     Challenge #75-Sketch

I've been very honored today to have been picked as Guest Designer at Try Stampin' On Tuesday for this week's challenge. I've put the sketch here so you can get an idea of what we're challenging you to do this week. You've got 6 days to enter in the fun and you too could be picked to be a Guest Designer.
When I saw this sketch and the main focal image said any stamped image I knew exactly what stamp set I wanted to use and what papers. Stampin' Up has come out with some wonderful new stamp sets and paper packs in their new catalog and these fit right into my scheme of things because I've got lots of birthdays coming up in the family and the kids and the guys love bright colors.
Be sure to click on the link above and see what the Design Team has created to inspire your creative mojo. This sketch lends itself to Fancy or Clean and Simple. I'm looking forward to see all the entries for Challenge #75.

Surely You Jest Tag

Art With No Boundaries     Anything Goes & Just Clowning Around Part 1

It's hard to believe we are entering the second half of July and that's no clowning around. Oops, that was probably a bad pun. However, today we begin our next fortnightly challenge at Art With No Boundaries. As usual you can create any art project you would like or you can create something that goes along with the theme Just Clowning Around and be entered in the drawing for this digi image:

This week I've created a tag with a couple of the hexagon shapes from Chris's Spirelli digital kit. She's got all kinds of shapes in this kit. You can size them to your preference and cut them out and like I did, wind them with blending filament or click on the link above and see what the other Design Team members used to wind around theirs. Some very clever creations.
I also used the Square Harlequin 2 as the focal image on my tag colored with glitter pens. I printed the sentiment on brushed silver card stock and popped both of these up on dimensionals on top of a black tag which I lightly embossed and bordered with a gold paint pen and added the torn embossed green metallic paper. For the finishing touch I added the metallic fibers to the top of the tag.
I know some people have a love hate relationship with clowns, but there are so many different kinds of clowns I bet you could find one you love and create something fun.
I look forward to seeing your creations in the next couple of weeks.

Clean & Simple Stamping     Sketch 199

Good Monday Afternoon and a Heartfelt Thanks to all my new followers. Your wonderful comments are always appreciated.
As you can see I turned the Clean & Simple sketch and put the sentiment in the middle. You can never go wrong with red, black, and white.
A word of warning however, keep those fingers clean, this was my third stamping on this one because I kept getting red on my fingers somehow. So after I stamped this one I heat set the red hearts and went to the sink and washed my hands. Is this where Cleanliness is next to Godliness? ;-)

Hit The Road

Mark's Finest Paper & Stamps     Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge 116-Masculine Birthday

I've got two challenges for you today. When you've got a good sketch and a good theme it's not to hard to come up with a good card.
This is the new car stamp from Stampin' Up. As much as I loved their truck stamp I'm going to love this one just as much if not more. I've been driving since I was 12, long story, won't bore you now, but I've always had a love of cars and who wouldn't want to hit the road with a bunch of presents on the way to a party. No bows and bling on this one, but I know guys love presents just as much as us gals.
Use the clickable links above to join in on some fun and maybe you'll get some inspiration here for a masculine theme.

Duct Tape Stripes

CAS-UAL FRIDAYS     CFC61: Let's Strip

Nope there's not pole dancing here just using strips of color. I happened to have a roll of 2" wide Duct Tape with this stripe pattern and you can find all kinds of patterns. Washi tape is so popular right now and all kinds of banners, I thought I would do something a bit similar but with a different kind of tape.  I decided to cut this duct tape apart at each color change, cut the tails and place them about 1/8" apart. I punched the birthday label with the Curly Label punch and bingo I've got a festive masculine birthday card in a flash.
Keep in mind CAS has lots of white space and click over to enter your Strip card.

I put the sketch here for you to see if you might like to click over to Try Stampin' On Tuesday and enter into the fun. You've got 3 more days to enter.
I am loving these new colors Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals from Stampin' Up and the embossing folder is new.  I think that adds just the right background for these pretty stamps and paper.
I'm also loving how most of the stamp companies are creating dies to go with their stamps. It is so nice to stamp, line up a die and roll it through my Big Shot. Done, Dusted,  pop everything together for a pretty result.

MFP Speedy TV     Sketch With A Twist #2-use 3 or more pattern papers

I've been participating in Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps blog challenges for awhile now and a nice surprise last week I won a stamp set from challenge114. They also invited me to come over and play at their fun community MFP Speedy TV. They've upgraded their site and added challenges Tuesday's thru Saturday's. For challenge junkies a heavenly place to discover.
This is the Tuesday challenge and since it was to use 3 or more pattern papers I decided to go monochromatic with white accent. That way you've still got the interest of the patterns, but it's not so busy you lose site if the image and sentiment.
If you haven't discovered MFP Speedy TV or Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps click on the link above and check them out. They've got some neat stamps and are continually coming out with new ones keeping up with what's hot at the moment.

Happy I Do Day ATC

Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge Blog     WW#40-Summer Weddings

Black, White, and Red have been popular wedding colors for a few years now. When I first heard of that I thought hmmm, but it only makes sense--a white dress, a black tux, and red roses, how can you get more elegant than that.
This heart stamp is one of the very first rubber stamps I ever bought and it has served me well. I have used it in  many different configurations and colors. The happy I do day is a stamp from Stampin' Up. I glued the tiny beads on using tweezers and colored the roses and stripes with Copic markers.
Don't panic Design Team at Wicked Wednesday you haven't lost a whole week, I know this isn't Saturday, but when you give me a challenge that I know exactly what stamps I will use, Wednesday it has to be and believe it or not I actually have got to work in my studio today without excessive interruptions--YAY!

Blue & Green Birthday

Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps     Speedy Fox and Friends 115-Blue & Green Card

I've got several projects rolling around in my head right now so for this challenge at Mark's Finest Paper & Stamps I decided to keep this birthday card pretty plain and simple.
I used Pear Pizazz ink but it photographed more like one of the new In Colors that Stampin' Up has Summer Star Fruit. The rest is simple, a die, a couple of punches, some ribbon, and some stamping. A pretty card, suitable for entering this challenge.

Starry Skies

Art With No Boundaries     Anything Goes & Summer Skies Part 2

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone--We've got our second week of challenge fun for you at Art With No Boundaries. You can choose to create something special to you or you can enter the Summer Skies part of the challenge which is our Bonus Round. When you link your project with a Summer Skies theme be sure to add BR after your name so that you will be eligible for the prize which is an original quote by Chris herself.
As you can see I've used another image of Cosmo only this time she's in a vertical panel instead of a horizontal panel like last week.
I was going for a shooting star effect for this card. I found this background paper in my stash and it really gave me a feel of the cosmos. I cut the first mat and distressed the edges then decided it needed some more texture so I cut the strip across the middle and distressed it also. I went to the sewing machine and sewed around the edges with copper metallic thread. I printed Cosmo on card stock weight vellum colored her with metallic pencils and lightly blended with orderless solvent. I was able to attach this vellum panel with glue dots under the stars and in the top right corner. The stars in her hair reminded me of shooting stars and to carry on the copper accents I colored the star brads with a copper paint pen and added the tiny crystals. Again carrying on the copper theme, I stamped the stars and some flourishes on brushed silver card stock, one of the banners is on brushed gold card stock. I cut them out and went around the edges with a gold paint pen also added tiny crystals to them. The little banners are attached with a tape runner and the stars are popped up with dimensionals.
I know the kids are home from school for the summer and people are vacationing, but, be sure to take some time out for yourself and if you get to spend some time in your studios we'd love to see some of your creations here at Art With No Boundaries. Hop over and see what the rest of the Design Team created for some added inspiration. You've got 3 1/2 more days to enter--look forward to seeing your creations.

HB Seal

Less Is More     Week 75-Colour-Gold

Okey Dokey--there's just some days when not much goes right no matter how hard you try. Well, this has been one of those days for me. So, I'm calling it a day here in my studio with this card for Less Is More and this is after 3 efforts.
This is actually a white card, but the light reflecting from the gold embossing makes it look cream. The center of the seal is popped up for some dimension.
I had a really cute card made for the Paper Piecing challenge that was last week, but I guess that's where I went wrong today when I didn't realize I had miss placed a whole week somewhere.
Marching forward, be sure to click on the link above and enter the fun. There are already a lot of entries because I don't know anyone who can resist GOLD !

Travel Collage Card

Try Stampin' On Tuesday     Challenge #73-Sketch
Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog     Let's See Some Texture

I decided to keep this color scheme very neutral, black, naturals white, and silver. I put the sketch in so you could see I took just a little bit of artistic license and changed the circles to squares because I wanted to use all the stamps in this stamp set. I used metallic silver rub-on paste to hit all the torn edges. I was going for texture on this one without loading it up with a lot of lace.
Hope you get to create this weekend and if you're looking around for some fun challenges give these two a try.

Shoe Friends

This week at CAS-UAL FRIDAYS the challenge is to make text the focal point. I recently got the stamp set Fabulous You from Stampin' Up and I've been watching Frenchie at Stamp & Scrap with Frenchie create some wonderful projects using stencils, sponging, and inks.
I wanted to keep the shoe understated so I stamped it and cut out the shoe to make may own stencil, laid it on card stock and sponged different in the spots to correspond with the flowers, butterflies, and leaves on the stamp. I used the Framed Tulip embossing folder to give the white space a little bit of umph. I stamped the sentiment in black and the little butterfly is in the same stamp set. I stamped it in black and colored it lightly with markers, cut it out and attached it in the top right corner for balance.

I wasn't first entering the challenge this time, but I did get this done before Saturday ;-)
I had to bring my summer stamps up from the bottom of the stack to create this little beauty. A wonderful summer evening on the beach with a nice cool drink watching the sunset, the breezes blow your hair, and sand between your toes. Oh my, making myself wishful for a road trip.

Dream A Dream

Art With No Boundaries     Anything Goes & Summer Skies

This is my first post for my new position as the newest team member here at Art With No Boundaries. The challenge for the next two weeks is Anything Goes & Summer Skies. If you choose to create something depicting Summer Skies in some way you will be entering the Bonus Round for the prize. Please put BR after your name when you do that so you won't miss out on a chance to win a design from Chris at CS Designs.
Chris is a very forward thinking designer and has some very unique designs.

For my project I used Chris's design Cosmo Wide Panel. She looked very dreamy to me, hence the title of my post.

I stamped the flourishes on the card and yellow card stock with VersaMark ink, colored Cosmo with Copic Markers, added the little jewels to her stars, and dyed the seam binding to match the card and created the bow.
I hope you click over to Art With No Boundaries and check out what the other team members have created and that we all have inspired you to created something with a Summer Skies theme or just create something and come over and join in on the fun.

Black, White, and Soft Suede create this clean and simple card that gives the feeling of the Header at Less Is More. I'm missing the music notes in the background, but when you're using something for inspiration you don't have to be exact.
Some new stamps and an older stamp with a matching punch. Love those.

Art Notes and Announcement

Recycle...Re-Purpose & Re-Invent     A Once A Month Challenge

First, my big announcement is I've been accepted on the design teams of Recycle...Re-Purpose & Re-Invent and Art With No Boundaries. I'm very excited to be part of these very talented teams and to be working with Chris the designer from CS Designs.  I know you can hear me clapping all around the world.
Second, the new challenge for the month of July is up and running today for Recycle...Re-Purpose & Re-Invent. Your mission is to create something with those 3 goals in mind. The cool thing is you've got a whole month to search your recycle bins, closets, ask friends for their cast offs, you get the idea.

For my project, a friend gave me this little notebook and said see what you can do with this. It's been laying around for a few weeks so when Chris gave me my new assignments my mind went automatically to this notebook for this challenge. I thought a face lift would be in order.
I choose the 60's Splash design from CS Designs sized it to fit the left corner, printed, and colored it with Copic markers then added the tiny metal dots. The title of the digi gave me the idea for the background that I wanted to do for the cover of the notebook.
I got out glossy card stock, some bright alcohol inks, and a straw. You're really supposed to use a can of air for this technique, but I was to lazy to go buy one. I know I'm a big enough blow hard to make this work.
I cut the pieces of glossy card stock to the size I wanted and put them close together, dripped the alcohol ink and blew the splotches. Attached these to the notebook, then the focal image, and the chip board letters, and for the final touch I added the beads and ribbons to the binder rings.
I've got the perfect notebook for my mixed media art notes.
Click on the links above and come over to Recycle...RePurpose & Re-Invent to play. We'd love to see interesting projects you come up with for the month of July. It's an anything goes challenge this time so I bet we see some red, white, and blue projects.
Happy 4th of July--we wish the whole world had the freedoms that we enjoy.

Birdie Birthday

SU-Only Challenges     SUO Challenge #48-For the Birds!

This is a new challenge for me. It's been a few weeks since I found it and now I've forgotten how I did find it. However, I was glad that I did because I'm building up my Stampin' Up supplies and I wanted to participate in a challenge with people who use and like Stampin' Up as much as I do.
Everything is Stampin' Up except for the black Sharpie marker that I used to color the Stampin' Up pearl for the birds eye.
Of course, I had to have two pictures for this one because I punched the hole with the 2 1/2" circle punch so the big bold flower would show through.
I colored the flower with markers and lightly spritzed with water to get this multi-colored image. I also stamped the bird twice, once with Midnight Blue and once where I colored the wings with markers and spritzed. I went around the underside of the wings with the Midnight Blue marker for more definition.
If you use a lot of Stampin' Up products be sure to click on the link above and join in on the fun at the challenge above.

Birthday 'n the Round

CAS-UAL FRIDAYS     CFC59-Round and Round-use 2 circles in your CAS design

I know it says for this challenge 2 circles, but I was going for a bold, but clean and simple look. The middle medallion is one stamp so I considered it to be one circle and the thin circle is hand traced around a template for the 2nd circle. I stamped Happy Birthday in black on the bold medallion before tracing the thin circle.
Click on the link above and see what you can come up with using 2 circles for this challenge.

Metal Steampunk

Forever Night Challenges     Freaky Friday 42-Steampunk & Metal
Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps     Speedy Fox and Friends 114-Metal

These two challenges went together hand in glove. Metal and Steampunk, with a touch of sinister in the background. The Edwardian Era was the time of Steampunk. Lots of new inventions and mad scientists running around experimenting.
I used Brushed Silver card stock for a metal look which I embossed with a Couture Creations embossing folder. I hit the high spots of that piece and the torn edges of the stamped piece with copper Metallic paste, then added the metal dots to 3 corners and....
For the final metal top off I used one of the pieces from Industrial Chic that I picked up at Michael's.
If it's too hot to celebrate with fireworks and a picnic you might be able to spend some time in your studio and play at these two challenges.

Eye Love You So Tag

This week it's tags at Dilly Beans. I combined three of Megan's digis for this tag. The heart border, the eye flower, and one of her cute boxed in sentiments. Just right for cutting up.
I have a cloud die and after coloring everything with Copic markers I cotton balled some blue chalk on the background, swished some blue onto bottom of clouds with a Copic marker and dashed the lines with a Stampin' Up marker Bashful Blue. After I attached the clouds I cut off the parts hanging over the edge and then dashed the black lines around the tag edge to frame it all in with a fine line Sharpie marker.
Megan's got some really cute digis. If you haven't been over to this challenge hop over and take a look around. You don't have to use Dilly Beans images to play, but since I found Megan's images I haven't been able to resist adding them to my digi stash.
