Zentangle Quandry

I Am The Diva CZT     Challenge #107-Quandry Tangle

Another new challenge for me.
I'm still making adjustments to my arting time. With the help of Elfa I put together this rolling cart with the supplies I use the most and this mini table I got a few years ago at Big Lots to have by my chair in the den beside my Mom. While she's watching TV I can be on my lap top and do some projects and still be available to help her when she has to get up for various breaks and 4 short walks a day around the house. Still have to make forays into my studio, but that's good exercise for me + Mom's 4 . One of my friends told me the other day that you need to get in around 10,000 and something steps a day, I know I'm no where near that, but some is better than none.

Now back to the challenge.
In my last post I said I got interested in Zentangle last year, but actually it was 2009. I looked back in my zentangle journal which I did start in Jan.. I gathered all my zentangles together and started the journal so that they would not be scattered .
We for sure want to give a shout of sympathy to Laura on the death of her Grandmother, but she said she got to sit with her before she passed and that will bring some comfort and good memories.
I've got my friend Cecile's Zentangle here also. Until she gets hooked up with a newer computer and gets her own blog going I'll be adding her tangles to the challenges from here.
I Am The Diva CZT     Challenge #107-Quandry Tangle
Laura's challenge was to use the Quandry tangle in some way.
Cecile and I read quite a few people's blogs and a few of them said they had a little trouble getting the hang of this one. We both practiced, but we both had a little trouble getting the hang of this one also.
My piece came out looking more like a squid or some such of a thing, but that's the beauty of Zentangle it doesn't have to be anything, and Cecile came up with a scene. She's still getting the hang of letting go and just creating without it being something.
If you don't have but a few minutes to create something, but still like to enter challenges check out the previous post and check out Laura's site where you can enter your little creations and get to see some other artists who can really Zentangle.

Zendala Challenge

The Bright Owl     Zendala #45

This is a new challenge for me. Last year I found out about Zentangle. I really like it because of the black and white graphic feel to the purist images I can create. Rick and Marie ( I don't have their last names in my mind right now) created Zentangle, here's a link Zentangle.com
I have since found that you can also add colors and that even adds and added interest to your creations.
I have also gotten my new friend and helper care giver to my Mom, Cecile into Zentangle. She says I have created a monster because she's consumed with Zentangling.
I have ordered quite a few books, found some web sites, and watched YouTube videos.
Since Cecile doesn't have a blog yet and we both wanted to participate in this challenge I'm also adding her creation on this post:

We have had no formal training, but we both love doing these small artistic creations.
If you don't know anything about Zentangle click on the links above and I bet you get hooked just like Cecile and I have.

Love Hearts Anniversary

I've been working on birthday bottles and anniversary cards on my family and friends list. Since, my studio is split between the den with my new rolling cart, which I have to say is working pretty good, but the majority of my studio is still in the front of the house, I'm still going back and forth for photo opps and various supplies. The exercise is great.
When I took the pic of this card I forgot to take a pic of the inside which is as pretty as the outside. You'll have to take my word for that :-)
Between the front and the inside I used 4 of the stamps out of Affection Collection from Stampin' Up. I also used my new framelits Ovals dies for the oval under the word Love. I rounded the corners to soften things up and it still seemed like it needed a little more so I added the tiny heart rhinestones to the left and right corners. I didn't want to cover up all those swirling pink hearts.
No challenges just creating for fun and personal pleasure.

A Shout Out for a Free Workshop

I've been following a very talented and generous lady's blog lately. Carolyn Dube at A Colorful Journey .
She first attracted me with her Gelli Plate art. That was one of my Christmas presents and I've been doing some research into using it and stumbled onto Carolyn's blog and YouTube videos.
Then last week she offered a free workshop--yes, I said free, and the videos can be watched without a specific time limit. There will also be PDF's with the workshop. Pretty cool.
It's called:  Use Your Words
Last year I started a word art journal so how appropriate is this workshop for me to get back to that journal.
I'm going to have to put down some plastic around my chair in the den with my little table and rolling cart because this workshop uses acrylic paints and sprays. Sounds super fun, huh?
Here's a link--check it out:

A Colorful Journey

Well, it's been awhile since I've been on the computer so you when you click on the workshop pic above it takes you to Carolyn's blog, but if you look on the right side bar you'll find the sign up links.
I hope to be bringing you some Gelli Plate art and art from this workshop in the coming days. Hope springs eternal.

Owl Family Xmas Card

I've got a 5 1/2" square Christmas card for you today.
I fixed a rolling cart with some of my most used supplies by my chair in the den so I can be with Mom the majority of the time. Just have to run back and forth for a few things, but that's a good way for me to get some exercise. :-)
I've used some papers, stamps, inks from Stampin' Up. Owls are all the rage right now so I thought this DSP made a good family of siblings or cousins.
I colored the Christmas tree with Stampin' Up markers and then stamped, I'm finally getting pretty good at getting a good stamped impression.
This card turned out crisp and clean with just a little bit of glow around the tree.

Steampunk Owl Canvases

Late last year I created a canvas for a friend of mine entitled Wise Owl Canvas. These 3 small canvases are to go with that one to make a collage on the wall.
The canvases are: 3 1/2" X 4 1/2", 4" X 5", 5" X 6". I used Stampin' Up pattern papers, Tim Holtz tissue tape, wire from my stash, Jolee's Boutique Owl Stickers, Stampin' Up Soft Suede ink, and Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.
It looked like the tissue tape was coming up in some places, but I have since fixed that.
As you can see it has taken me one month to the day to get back into my studio, just for the day, I'm hoping this is going to be a beginning back to my artistic side. I'm kind of tired of the nursing persona, however, my Mom didn't have any broken bones from her fall right before Thanksgiving and that is a good, good thing, but she has had a long recovery back to almost where she was before the fall. Some days it's still a tussle to get her to exercise, but we are going forward and not backward.
Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts and your continued faithfulness in following my blog.
Hope to have some more projects in the coming weeks and months.
