It's A String Thing #97

It's A String Thing #97   Tickled To Tangle

Adele Bruno at Tickled To Tangle has created a Father's Day String with 4 great tangles to get all our creative juices going this week.
Sunday in America is designated as Father's Day. A day to honor all the men in our lives who have influenced us in ways that are a special trait of men. It's not always the soft nurturing way Mom's have sometimes it's that good gruff bear like manner that shakes us up and hopefully brings us to our senses. Then that big gruff bear becomes that cuddly warm steady spot in our lives where we know things will always come out right. Those would be the perfect Dad's, some of us may have Dad's with feet of clay, but they need our love also. Hope this holiday weekend brings out the best in all our families and we get lots of quality time with the people we love, no matter what day you celebrate.
Wow, that was a soapbox moment. If it's to gushsy or you don't agree with any of that paragraph just skip over it, delete it from your memory, and skip to the next line where I'll get back to the challenge at hand.
Four tangles, yes, Double D's, All About V's, Diamonds and Squares, and Umble by: Marie Thomas.
I managed to get a little of each on my tile. Frankly,  I had not attempted any of these tangles before, but I quite like the result.
Be sure to hop over to Tickled To Tangle Monday afternoon and check out all the talented people who join in at the challenge on a regular basis. I've also noticed that I'm not the only newbie whose been joining in lately. It's always great to see each persons interpretation of the string and tangles.

Watercolor Resist

Clean & Layered/Watercolor Resist---The Card Concept

I decided to try my hand at a new card challenge to me. It looks very interesting, with lots of creative designers. I hope I have read the rules correctly and interpreted their definitions right. Each time you make a card to enter you have to pick a concept and interpret it accordingly.
I have chosen Clean & Layered as the concept. I was inspired by Chupa over at Stamp Nation with this watercolor resist technique. I can tell you straight out her card is quite different than mine. She is a very accomplished artist. I changed up colors, die, and inks. I used Stampin Up's Woodgrain Embossing folder, some Dyan Reavely spray inks for the watercoloring, Stampin Up Chalk in on the sentiment tag, a Simon Says stamp and die for the sentiment, Stampin Up Labels Framelits, Stampin Up Butterfly Basics stamp set, Recollections white card stock, some thin white cord from my long time stash, Stampin Up white and clear embossing powder. I think that's all the supplies I used. It's been awhile since I have made a card, posted, and entered a card. In future I think I will list all the supplies at the end of the post or I need to visit some current entrants and see how they are doing things these days.
That's it for me today. I'm off to work on a couple of mixed projects for a friend.
Thanks for visiting and any and all comments are always appreciated.

It's A String Thing #96

It's A String Thing #96 --- Tickled To Tangle

The challenge this week at Tickled To Tangle is to honor Nancy Newlin who came up with the string pattern which she posted at Tangle Patterns and can be found titled as String Pattern #092.
We're using 4 patterns that start with the letter N: Nuwave, Nipa, Nvelope, and Neuron. I used all 4 in my tile. The Nuwave pattern in mine are a looser version than the original. I also flipped the string upside down. I wish my photography skills were better. I tried and tried to get everything sharpened up, because I was very pleased with the way this tile looked.
It's getting late tonight so I'm heading over to enter this at the challenge site. If you've got some time Monday afternoon (I think that's when Adele posts all the entries) hop over to Tickled To Tangle and check out the other artist entrants.

#221 Beads of Courage Challenge

#221 Beads of Courage--i am the diva czt

I'm slowly getting back into some small  pieces of art, so naturally I've gone back to my comfort zone right now. Zentangle.
This challenge site is one I used to participate in fairly regularly and Laura, The Diva is still at it, going strong even with all her daily challenges. She's a lady I have a lot of respect for.
This week the inspiration for this challenge is a group she and her family are very active with. I've copied and pasted this explanation from her site:

Beads of Courage is an Arts in Medicine that supports kids with chronic or life threatening illnesses and their families.  These kids are amazing.  And they more often than not have to deal with a lot on a daily basis.  They see a lot of doctors, and on this program instead of getting a sticker or a lollipop for getting a needle or an X-Ray, or a test of some kind, they'd get a glass bead to represent that part of their medical journey.

Such a wonderful thing for children to receive after experiencing all those procedures.
With my tile I tried to string some pretty beads on a tassel and surround them with encouraging and happy words.
Passing on information by word of mouth has always been an effective means of advertising, but now with the internet and as each of us participate in this challenge and navigate from one artist to another looking and commenting it will be like a pebble in a pond with ripples of information going out into the world. Someone who didn't know about this organization may hear about just when they need the information.
I enjoy participating in challenges because it helps me to think outside my box instead of  just plain creating.
I hope you go over and check out the other artists creations.
In the mean time--

It's A String Thing #95

It's A String Thing #95--Tickled To Tangle

I'm back today with a tangled tile. I recently found this tangle challenge site on Pinterest. I've been quietly following what's been going on there. I love Adele's positive attitude to everyday life. She posted some great pictures from her resent getaway with her hubby. Talk about an abundance of patterns in real life-WOW!
I'm going to send this tile over for the challenge this week. This mission was to create a tile using these 4 tangle patterns: 'Nzeppel, Yincut, Onomato by: Maria Thomas, and Bublz by: Lori Byerly.
I managed to get all 4 tangles in the string she gave. I have to say the Onamato and Yincut were the easiest to catch on to, but the Bublz for sure show off my shaky hand, and the 'Nzeppel took a bit to catch on to.
My art and blogging have been on the back burner since Oct 2014. Helping my grandson to settle in with us and graduate 3rd grade with many successes, cataract surgery in April on both my eyes, and many other family situations, we've had ourselves quite a 2015 already and it's just half over. School was out for the summer yesterday so I'm hoping to carve out some time for me to get my steady hands back and my vision to continue to clear.
Hence, I'm jumping right into a challenge. If you're one of my faithful followers you all know how I love a challenge. I'm also working on a couple of art pieces for a friend, that have actually been promised to her for two years. Now that's what I call a patient and understanding friend.
Wish me luck on making myself take some time for me and my projects and go over and check out all the talented tanglers at Tickled To Tangle.

Happy Creating,
